Yes but Bon Jovi is a whole different scale of band... It is in the same class than Rolling Stones and The Boss; those all are show bands, they always try to give audience an experience of their lifetime.... it isn't just music what they bring us in live shows.
For example Coldplay, RHCP, Green Day and basicly all the other rockers have like 1h 30min to 1h 45min gigs..... They just play and wish audience would like... they don't care much about chancing clothes all the time or blow some fireworks middle of the show....
There is big difference between these bands...
Bon Jovi has their own role and they have to stick to it, atleast everybody is assume they would... and I think that's not wrong...

Why are they opening with covers? I'm not so sure I like that. It's cool if they throw in a cover or 2 at some point during the show, but not open with one... I was hoping it would be LMS. I know they opened w/ that one every time when they did the arenas last winter but it is so fitting and such a great song to kick things off with. The adrenaline rush I get when I hear the opening chords is crazy!

It wouldn't hurt the band to actually replace songs like Baby, Crash, Runaway, Sleep, There 4 u, Arms or even Raise with rarer songs like Wild is the wind, I believe, Dry county, These days, TAALS, NSG, Blood on Blood, Living in sin, Boys are back in town, Wild in the streets, Something for the pain or Damned and mix this around on a nightly basis. I don't expect the band to give up on Bad name, Prayer, Life etc because of the fact that the main focus will be on the 80-90% casual concert goers who would be dissapointed if they didn't hear the big hits. However, since a lot of fans see them in concert multiple times in both Europe and the States, it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep a small portion of the set reserved for audibles like the rarer songs to please the die-hards. Besides, it will keep the band fresh and in my opinion the musicians like to play varied stuff.

I understand that there has to be some kind of rehearsed setlist, but I think that BJ are taking it too far right now, basically they end up with the same songs for the last 3 tours. Another main problem is that people who aren't die-hards, but like to see them when they're in town will see the almost exact same show. Maybe next tour they'll be like "Whatever, they played almost the same songs in 2001, 2003 and 2005/2006, I'll skip this tour".

Maybe Jon, who hates computers, should have an assistant who keeps track of the setlist and hands him out the previous setlist when the band plays a city or area twice on a tour and Jon will change stuff around to keep things fresh. Aerosmith is known to do that (Steven Tyler also keeps track of each country's previous crowd response when he and Joe Perry decide the setlist for that night- rabid crowds get better setlists than "limp dicks" as Tyler calls it). Hell, take a look at the Stones who for their 40 Licks tour could release a double live-cd, one cd with the crowd-pleasing superhits & one cd with only rarities...

Expectations on boards like this are (rightly so) sky-high, just compare the setlists from Munich, Dusseldorf, MK #1 or even Hessisch Lichtenau to the Florida set....

To cut a long story short: my expectations for the closing part of this tour are (or any BJ tour): basically the same skeleton as the first US leg, but combined with the Europe-Japan rarities to please everybody, 21 song main set, 4-5 song encore, minimum of 4 songs changed songs compared to the 1st leg, maybe 3 rarities
Good points. I'm with you, i'd like the band to read stuff like this and then actually do it.

What am I expecting at Giants on the 29th? While i'd love a rarity like Dry County or These Days I will be more than happy if they play something like Wild is the Wind, Living in Sin, Blood on Blood, and close the show with Never Say Goodbye. They close the show with that and I will bawl. My eyes out.

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3
