Always has been played quite a few times on The Circle tour, maybe not so much on the GH leg, but I'm glad it reappeared because I thought we would never hear it again. As recently as 2006 the closest we got to it was the tepid TLFR version.

TAALS should be played live- even more of an excuse with it being on the GH, maybe they will dig it out for Europe, but it would be nice if they gave it a crack before the US leg is over. The South American versions when Jon slipped in the Spanish chorus on the These Days tour got insane reactions.

I don't see why they HAVE to play a song just because it's on their GH. To me, it's the continuation of TC tour anyway.
Sure I want "These Days" and "This Ain't A Love Song", but at this point I'm happy they dug out "Always" and "Dry County" again and made them semi-regulars at least.

Actually Always was quite a frequent rotation on this 2011 NA leg, but for some reason the band has been ignoring this song since Phil replaced Richie. If Richie gets back for Europe, I'm sure Always will be staple during the European leg considering how much they played it in US this year. TAALS is another subject though, as much as I was surprised to see it make it's return in Denmark 3 years ago, I was way more disapointed how they never played it at O2. I mean, c'mon, they played 72 different songs, some of them were never expected to be played and they still didn't play TAALS! And since they didn't play it in South America last year either, my guess is that we won't see this song this year and that's a shame, especially because it's on the GH. I guess Jon didn't like it when he performed it in 2008.

True, but EVERY SINGLE SONG on the Greatest Hits has been played this year (2011) EXCEPT for This Ain't a Love Song. They can play it, and Jon can sing it, as he proved in Denmark 3 years ago.

Very, very strange that "This Ain't a Love Song" havn't got a single try on TC/GH Tour. I witnessed it live in Denmark 2008 and I was shocked as hell when they played it! It was a very good version and I can't honestly see any gumptious arguments why it shouldn't be played at least once or twice á tour.

IF Richie is back in Europe, I bet it gets an airing or two.

Don't be silly, this isn't The Circle tour at all anymore. Just because Jon refuses to name this tour "The Greatest Hits" tour and says they see it as a longer The Circle tour doesn't mean it actually is. Most songs of The Circle were dropped halfway through The Circle tour, and all promo for this tour looks more like the Greatest Hits artwork than the artwork for The Circle. It's not even named The Circle tour either, they gave it a different name as well.

What it boils down to right now is that Jon can finally play whatever he wants, meaning that he's got a legitimate reason to bullshit us with the same show night after night. He's not promoting anything, right? Instead of seeing it as a chance to showcase their catalogue and all of their 100.000.000 albums he once again goes back to phoning it in.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Yes indeed. And I hope to see new documentary where he can insist he wants to play the deep cuts (or the sole US hit off the die hards favorite album) and blame us "for not wanting to hear those songs" when Work, Lost Highway, or Whole Lot of Leaving get such good reactions everytime.

This and "In & Out Of Love", except you might wanna call the O2 thing a performance.

I don't care what this tour is called and when they dropped the Circle songs (well, I care about that, but that's a different topic). To me, this is all one big tour that started promoting TC, and had a GH released halfway through. Just like in 1995, which was one long tour, no matter if the legs had different names. To me, at least.

And my initial point was, even if this was officially named the GH tour, there would be no reason in the world why they should stop playing album cuts, and on the other hand start playing every single song on the GH. Not saying they shouldn't, I'm just saying I don't see a reason for it.
