I'm not disappointed about Nickelback - I like them. Anyway, I don't care too much about opening act...I mean, I'm happy there will be a band I like, but I wouldn't despair if they had chosen someone else I don't like.

It's funny, if it had been 4 years ago, maybe even 3 I would have been well happy with Nickelback supporting ... actually, I am still quite looking foward to it, they're a decent live act. Does seem a bit of a random choice though. Who would I have opening in an ideal world? Dunno. Come back to me on that one

I was a massive 'Live' fan before i saw them opening last tour, and to be honest i would understand if their set they played then didnt win over any new fans, even though iv seen them twice since and am going again this june (3 days after wembley!) and they are excellent live,a brilliant band.

Sometimes seeing a band as a support act is hard, as 90% of the people around you just dont care much for them.

But back to the original question, id love to see Alterbridge, Def leppard or Live again open for BJ.

JBJ - I believe

I love Live, they're one of my favourite bands now, but at Hyde Park they really didn't cut it ...

I love Nickelback, but have never seen them in concert, so I was jealous when I saw they were opening for the European shows. Now that it looks like they'll be opening for the summer North American shows I'm even more jealous, since I'm pretty sure I won't be seeing any of the summer tour.

It seems like they must've had an off night and I don't blame you for not liking them for being drunk or high or whatever they were that night. I saw a decent performance and am a huge fan of the band so I'm looking forward to seeing them this summer on tour, hopefully you give them another shot.

Default lots of choices

Having been able to enjoy a lot of Bon Jovi shows, there are a couple ways to look at an opening act.
1) Do you want a newer more hip band like Nickleback or goo goo dolls that will draw younger fans.
2) Do you want an old school rock band that old Bon Jovi fans know. Like Cinderella or Def Leppard
3) Or do you continue to give new upstart bands a chance in a lifetime gig.

I would love to see older bands like Def Leppard or Warrant etc!! But I have seen them all before so its not as big a deal.
Heck I remember when the band Arcade opened for Bon Jovi in 93 and that was fine as well. Arcade was a new band with some big names..Stephen Pearcy of Ratt was lead singer and Fred Coury of Cinderella was the drummer...

Oh well, bring on the summer tour...cant wait.

Summerfest in Milwaukee July 2006....

I'm really pleased with Nickelback. I like quite a lot of their songs and it adds as an extra incentive to go to see Jovi this year. The kinda bands I'd want as support would never play support anyway so Nickelback is about the best I could have hoped for.
