A sprain is far less serious than a tear, so that's good. I got a similar injury playing football a few years back, I couldn't finish the match but I was fine to start the next game four days later. It all depends on the severity of the injury, everybody's different. Remember that there's no gig now until the 22nd (i think) so that gives him a few days rest where he can sit down and do bugger all, thereby not aggravating the injury. We might be making a huge fuss out of nothing and the poor setlist last night could be due to a lot of other factors. He could be back to normal by Wednesday, we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't know that there is just one answer to this. I think we can for sure rule out cancelling, the band, the crew, the stages are all up and running, tickets have been sold, and it's not like you can just rebook these stadiums. Plus, most all members of the band already have commitments for after August, and I'm pretty sure Dorothea would lay a cast iron skillet "up side" Jon's head if he dared to book one show in Aug. It's been a pretty set thing that he not work that month for quite some time now, and you have to admit she's pretty damn laid back about how much time he's spent on tour in the last decade.
As for what kind of show they should do, well as a diehard I'd love the "sit down out on the Circle and just play some deep catalog stuff, but i don't know if you can really entertain 60,000 to 80, 000 people that way. And here's the kicker, Jon would have to believe that that kind of show was entertaining enough and I'm not sure who could convince him of that.

As for the set in Denmark, yes, it was a bland one for Europe, but my guess is Jon chose it because all the songs on that set are ones he can sing without a ton of concentration, and if he was as mentioned in alot of pain, those are the songs he can still do well. I would think the pain would ease a bit everyday as long as he's resting between shows and staying off it, and getting treatments, so the assumption would be that the sets will get more energetic and more varied as his pain lessens.

Assuming you're right, that would be fantastic news. I mean, if all his injury got was a spoken "ouch" before continuing with the song, I can't picture it crippling enough to make the whole tour suffer. So maybe it's not as severe as it seems

Exactly, when we're all looking forward to something like this it's easy to overreact to a bit of bad news. Obviously, I'm not a doctor and I've no idea how bad Jon's leg is BUT that doesn't mean we can assume the worst. And you're exactly right, he said "ow" then carried on singing. Of course there's pin and discomfort but we've all hurt ourselves doing stuff and we know that every day you feel a bit better, so if his injury was only a minor one, he could be fine by the Murrayfield show.

Yeah, especially with Jon's ambitions that were said earlier, about wanting to do 3 hours each night and all that jazz. Jon's definitely a trooper when it comes to this kind of thing I guess, so let's just hope a little problem with the knee won't kill his spirit.

Hopefully not but very often these injuries are worse the day after than they are when they happen. With that said since he's standing and doing the show without sitting a day and a half after, it's probably as bad as it gets right now, as long as he doesn't do anything to injure it more. And as long as he stays off it, get's treatments and takes it easy between shows he should get better as the tour goes on.

Exactly. He should just listen to all his IML clones about facing up to adversity, then he'll be right as rain! This tour has had it's issues, first with Richie and now this, but i can see that only spurring the band on to be even better. Say what you like about them but when faced with problems they don't seem to just lie down and take it, the show must go on.

Absolutely. Even the biggest nay-sayers of fans really do have to admit that the band's determination through problems is top-notch. Sure, the sans-Richie setlists really did suck but Jon seemed to be giving his all performance-wise to make up for it and to still be one of the best damn shows around, and I can't see him doing anything less for this, which IMO is less of an obstacle than not having Richie there.

I couldn't agree more, and i think the next couple of days he has to recoup it until Scotland.

I fractured my ankle 5 weeks ago - Wasn't allowed to goto the gym for 5 weeks, i had a limp for a week and then it eased up, and that was a fracture. Cos it was a hairline they didn't cast me all i has was a tubigrip!!!
