Richie also played with a broken shoulder/collarbone on the HAND tour.

The only time I remember a gig being cancelled due to injury was in Australia when Tico broke his wrist.
Last summer Jon and his medical team did an incredible job of getting him out there each night and getting him "better," too. I couldn't believe the difference between how much he could do in Ohio (July 12) and Massachusetts (July 24) considering that he'd been doing shows the whole time in between. I realize this is a different injury, but what I'm trying to say is that they seem to have a pretty good handle on this recovery business. Obviously, only time will tell.

Accidents happen. They're a freak thing most of the time on stage so why should Jon apologize for getting injured?

The OP didn't actually say apologize, but if you ask me this comes pretty close . . .

Really, what should he do?
I know I can be tough on Jon, and I made no secret of the fact that I hated the choices he made in May, but even I can't get mad at the guy for getting hurt. "Admit that he made a mistake?" Really? By somehow planting his foot wrong and hurting his knee while on-stage during a show? It isn't like he went skiing or hang-gliding on an off day and now can't do the usual show.

For those interested, I have a bit of personal history with knees. From experience, tweaking an MCL will give him a bit of a grumble in the knee and he'll just be told to make sure that it's elevated above hip level and supported under the knee, iced for 20-30 minute periods, then remove the ice for the same time and repeat until the swelling subsides. While it's swollen, it's not healing.

To be honest, he will probably be okay at the beginning of a show, it'll be the day after that it gives him grief and the big issue is that his confidence will have taken a massive knock, so probably don't expect any Pete Townshend jumps for now...

If i still get to see two three hour shows this Friday and Saturday with the kind of setlists we saw early in the European tour (hopefully better, but i'm not holding my breath) I couldn't care if he stands still the whole time. Stopping his ridiculous dancing is nothing but a bonus point

Sorry to say that, but you missed the point completely. I know it's not a basketball forum, but I've expected the Americans in this board to get the LeBron James reference. This is the commercial by Nike after LeBron's move to Heat and it has been mocked on numerous television shows.

Okay then - sorry. I'm a huge sports fan, but I detest professional basketball.

There's only one solution, a bionic leg.

Do it Jon, you know it makes sense.

So that's why there's a lengthy break coming up!
