Hello, all! I came back to post my Zepp Tokyo review.
I just posted this review at BSWJBJ message board too.
First of all, sorry for my bad English!
Fortunately, I was able to win a ticket to Zepp Tokyo! It was so hard for me to get it. I entered radio contests, TV contests, Magazine contests...I've done anything I could have done to get this premier ticket. I even wake up 5 in the morning for 3 days to listen to the radio that provided us one pair of the tickets. Because I was so concentrated and worried about the ticket, I could hardly eat anything and by the time of the event, I lost 3 kg! I heard that 250,000 people entered the contests for the past few weeks, and only 2,500 people were chosen to be the witness of this event. In my case it was BSWJBJ who gave me a chance to see it. I was crying when I found my name on the list.
9/11 was a very hot day in Tokyo. I arrived at Zepp Tokyo around 3pm. I was so surprised that it was such a small venue. I found the long line of people and noticed that everyone is waiting for the band to come. We were waiting, standing for about one and half hours and finally their wagon came! Everyone got so excited of course, but the only thing I saw was David's curly hair!
I got a little shocked when I knew that Fan Club tickets were section H. The very last section in the venue, but I talked to myself that considering there were so many fans who couldn't come, I was lucky to be there. Yes, there were numerous number of fans who were not be able to win the tickets outside the venue. Some people were holding the board which said "I need a ticket." or "Pick Me Up". It was heart breaking....I bought a Bounce T-shirt (black T-shirt with a white Bounce logo on it) and entered a venue around 5:30 and waited another one and a half hours.
At 7pm, Jon's old friend and the radio DJ, Masa showed up on stage and told us that the management and the record level were working so hard to make our dream come true and tonight was going to be the legend for the Japanese fans and he introduced Bon Jovi!
Hugh, Tico and David were the first ones who showed up on stage. Hugh and Tico were wearing black T-shirts and David was wearing a snake print? shirt. The audience got so excited! Then Richie came from the left side of the stage and started playing his guitar. The first song was HOOK ME UP. The music started but Jon was not on stage. I was looking for him and when he came from the right side of the stage, singing, the audience went crazy instantly!!! Jon was wearing no sleeve black Nike T-shirt and a black jeans. HOOK ME UP was soooooooo cool!!! I'm sure you will love it when you heard it live! Very heavy and strong. A good song for the first song in concert.
The second song was LIVIN' ON A PRAYER. Everyone is singing along of course. Then BAD NAME. We finished this song singing "I play my part and you play your game, you give love a bad name!" Then Jon got a big smile on his face. He told us that the band members were surprised that they could play in such a small venue and asked how many of us had gotten a new album. Everyone raised his/her hands with excitement. And they started playing EVERYDAY. All of us remember the lyrics by now and the band seemed glad about it.
BORN TO BE MY BABY is the popular BJ song among Japanese so everyone was singing with the band. Jon said that he had almost forgotten but MTV was shooting this live show and fans all over Japan were watching us. He said "Say hello to everyone!"
After JUST OLDER, Jon mentioned 9/11 and said this song is the dedication for NY, and started playing UNDIVIDED. I was so surprised and glad that everyone had already remembered the lyrics of UNDIVIDED and BOUNCE, and was singing along with Jon very loudly and jumping when we came the line "Bounce, Bounce". I think many fans have stayed up all night to remember the lyrics written in English. I thought as if this is the climax of the night because those songs really rocked as if they were written for the live show!!! I really love those 2 songs. Then the audience became quiet to listen to the new song "The Distance". It's a mid-tempo and also a good song.
Then WANTED. When we sang "Dead or Alive" then Jon said "Yeah..." Everyone likes this part.
Jon didn't use Maracus while playing KTF. He was looking for it thinking it should be on Richie side, but actually it was on Hugh side. He was not able to notice it.
We've learned from DVD, so we waved our hands while CAPTAIN CRASH. It was so fun! When I heard I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD and BAD MEDICINE I realized the show was almost over. I wished it could have been last forever!!!
The first encore was Joey. It's also a mid-tempo song. I think there are too many ballads on Bounce, but they didn't play any ballad that night. I forgot when he said this, but Jon said the jet lag was so bad and it was like singing 7 AM in the morning in NJ wearing underwear and he had a cup of coffee on stage.
After BLOOD ON BLOOD, they went to backstage but came back to play a couple of other songs. IML is the high light. It really rocked!!! There were so many younger fans so it's understandable that IML is the most famous and popular song. (By the way I'm a slippery genelation.)
Then they started playing AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL. I was a little surprised that they played this song in Japan. I had a great hegitation to sing this song since I'm not American. But it was so moving. I raised the big American flag trying to show it to the band. Someone later said that she saw the tears in Jon's eyes. I'm not sure if it's true.
They played 18 songs in 2 hours for free. And I'm really appreciate it. Thank you Bon Jovi for the great night! Jon said on the radio yesterday that BJ will come back to Japan in January! We are looking forward to seeing you soon! We always love you!!!
