I've just finished listening to a Live compilation CD that I burnt, and I must say that I'm quite impressed! At times, the vocalist actually reminds me of Richie.... I think it was a certain point in Lightning Crashes, something about "opening up her eyes" when he sounds just like him. Not bad at all....... and anyway, just be glad its not Ronan Keating!

Keep On Rockin'

ps. Some of their lyrics do seem a little crap though, although most of them are good

Blue or S Club 8 lol

no, only joking.

Sterophonics, Radiohead or Coldplay would be good.

the majority of people wouldn't want artists like these and again it comes down to majority i'm afraid.

What are you talkin' about? The SCorpions have 1000s of fans and they weren't on tour for ages. A lot of people would come just to see them.

And besides most of the people come to see/hear BON JOVI not the opening act,why not bring local bands??? They would still sell out the show. The opening act has a minor influence on ticket sales.

And then I'll say bands like CINDERELLA,POISON, new SKID ROW, SLASH's SNAKEPIT or THE PROJECT or how they are called or even IZZY STRADLIN who plays incredibly good rock 'n' roll. And there are a lot more bands.

You said it's not 1989 and it's not Moscow. 1995 wasn't 1989 either but they guys still had Van Halen, Slash's Snakepit ,Ugly Kid Joe or Ste va VAi as opening acts.

Bon Jovi turned more an more into a pop band since then...the support bands can't be rock bands when the major act is a pop band.
The support acts are actualy a mirror.........yeah.

Maybe Modern Talking in Germany???? That would be so funny...
:P In Holland we should've gotten Di-Rect (hate em, but they'll get the crowd going probably), Live is a fine opener (compared to the reaction the Stereophonics got, at least some people in Germany like em), in Belgium K's Choice (boring to me, but once again good for the masses)...

It's really hard to find a support-act I think, it shouldn't be too unknown (like 3 doors down- only 1 hitsingle) or too poppy (Mel c?), or not too metal (Slash in 95 was way too rockin for the masses-I dug em, but it seemed I was the only one)...therefore local bands can work fine...they should stick with that...

Oh well, I'm off to the Amsterdam ArenA to score a wristband!

If Repete Prescription played they'd be a few fans in the audiance lol....

I'm guessing the suport bands bring in nothing on the ticket sales... and I'm guessing that a bigger band like the Scorpions would bring in more sales than a pop band. People like pop, but nobody really wants to go out and see it, people may like Live, but they woudln't pay £35 if they didn't want to see Bon Jovi. HOWEVER a band like the Scorpions will bring people to the show.

I went to see Alice Cooper when Dio was the support. I went to see Dio, and there were lodes of people around with Dio t-shirts, because that sort of fan will go and see an opening band.

I'm also guessing that the majority of the audiance will be familiar with somethign like Rock you Like a Huricane, or Sill Loving You, as opposed to maybe having heard Live on the radio once. It would do the job of warming the audiance up much better... Having said that, you don't want a band opening for you who can potensially blow you off the stage, Live is a safe bet, because at the end of the day, Bon Jovi go on playing Kazo's and they're gonna upstage Live.

more bon jovi fans in the UK know who the scorpions are i would say than they do Live, or did Andreas Johnson, Toploader, Delirious? etc (all 4 of which i dislike)

Is suppose it depends what the role of a support band is. If its just to warm up the crowd, then anyone could do that, as long as they play good rock music (and Live do, before you say anything). But also, its a place where lesser known bands can get a bit of exposure, you know? And most established bands can sell out their own gigs, they're probably too arrogant to even cosider opening for anyone else

Keep On Rockin'
