Very much agree - plus, it would give exposure at an extremely appropriate level.

Kid Rock did that. Jerry Cantrell opened in Seattle and it was fantabulous!

Bon Jovi did that at Giants with Pete Yorn in 2003. He is from Jersey, and I had never even heard of him until that day.
In Zurich. Oostend and Munich also some"local" acts opened - they were really bad if you ask me, so Iīm not for this
@Mousebounce: you never heard of Pete Yorn before? Thought he was quite a big act over in USA? anyway, I heard about him before but I thought he was really bad. No need to see him again. Good about gigs in the US is that you can leave the stadium & donīt have to listen if you donīt want to
My sis in law went with us, and she knew of him. I don't know how big he is/was here though. I remember him being really bad too. Good time to go to the bathroom. LOL

I don't really need an opening act. The crowd isn't interested, the sound
is mostly crap and there's no possibility for them to put up a decent show.

But if I had to choose, I'd say The Killers.

An openening act can be amazing, but the majority of the fans aren't there to see them so it doesn't matter, that's too bad though. On the Bounce tour, the Goo Goo Dolls were pretty darn good, I love them almost as much as Bon Jovi so I appreciated it, but there was no energy from the crowd at all, barely any applause even, so it doesn't make it feel like a Goo Goo Dolls concert, and it's not.

I saw Hoobastank with Velvet Revolver, and they were amazing...but almost go booed off the stage, because it was a different typr of rock that most of those fans didn't care for.

So, in the end, openings acts are good for like two things, as the guy from Hoobastank put it, they're there to warm you up and pass the time, that's about it. Some people will get lucky and see anotehr of their favorite bands, but don't expect it to be as exciting as a show for that group.

Anyways, I would love to see Rob Thomas open for Bon Jovi. I'd say the Goo Goo Dolls again, because they have new stuff coming out around the same time, supposedly, but I think they will headline their own tour this time around. Other than Rob Thomas, the Killers would be ok, too.

I'd love to see Thunder open for Jovi again although considering the "personality clashes" that meant they didn't play the last night at Wembley I doubt Jovi would ask them, or that they'd agree Those shows rocked though!

Apart from them, I'd love to see Rob Thomas again, Train would also do well in this sort of slot in the UK as they need this kind of exposure over here.
