from the independent

"AEG, which is owned by the US billionaire Philip Anschutz, will be hoping to recoup some of its lost £300m by bringing one the world's most assured seat-fillers to the UK next June. Organisers still had to confirm how many shows the rockers intended to perform.

Rob Hallett, of residency promoter AEG Live, said: "When Jon Bon Jovi opened the 02 with the words, 'Hello London, welcome to your new home', little did he realise that we were already plotting to make it his new home. Bon Jovi are the best live band in the world. This one could run and run."

hmmm we will see

I really cant see them selling any nights out, which will be embarrising tbh.

The majority of Bon Jovi fans at their gigs are casual fans who are there for Prayer, Bad Name and IML and they live local, thats how they still sell out the stadiums over here. However, if even us proper fans arent going because of the prices, how many casuals are going to pay these prices?

If i remember correctly from the Prince shows, doesn't the O2 has one of them screen 'hubs' in the centre attached to the ceiling? I swear it does.

Well as one of the unemployed fans, who also lives outside of London, I know who I won't be seeing in 2010!

That's £300-500 of tickets, travel and hotel etc that we just don't have and much as it pains me to say it, as they are arena gigs and most likely one or more will be recorded over the length of their tour then I can see me feeling much better paying £15-20 for the bluray!

And a thought for those who are going - five nights in one place with smaller capacity than a stadium still means a shortfall in the merchandise takings too! Shirts, etc will be way more expensive for such an "exclusive" set of concerts!!

As an after-thought, wouldn't AEG and the band make more money from a couple of "usual/lesser price" Wembley concerts and all the merchandising, etc than 5 concerts at the O2? I know it's not quite the same, but the theory that the extra 50-60,000 people all buying tickets, shirts, programmes, posters and food would all add up. Plus the backlash would be lessened as the fan perspective on GC/GA/seating tickets is different to the issues in the O2. If they aren't going to set some kind of record for O2 residency then I'm not sure why they'd agree to do all the extra work against a couple of stadium concerts.

Sorry, but 2 tickets to a 2 hour show at the O2 or 2 new bikes for the kids?!?!?
I know Walker.
Sad thing is how many kids/families will miss out this Xmas because a Bon Jovi ticket is more important???
