Question Why are Bon Jovi playing at "weird" places?

They played in Puerto Rico, gonna play in Venezuela and some gigs in Canada, not Montral or Toronto (???). Might be some places I've forgot.
What has happend? I think it's very nice that they play outside US, UK and Germany, but what made them play in Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
If someone bet on that one year ago, he would have been a rich man now

No offens to those who live in these places, I envy each one of you!!!

Puerto Rico originally was planned as a festival with different bands. And Venezuela is a charity thing and only with Jon, not the whole band.

They do this for pre-release promo then just ignore these sorts of places when it comes to the main tour.

Well that's a paradox
Thanks for the answers, still finding it weird that they do festivals, in Puerto Rico.

Well... I live in Norway, so don't you come complaining to me lol
They haven't been here for a real gig since '93!!! They played at the Nobel Peaceprice in 2000 though...
Btw, does anyone have recordings of that show? They played 3 songs, It's My Life, Thank You For Loving Me & Livin' On A Prayer (I think).

oohhh **** off.

Why do people still have the Image of Puerto Rico and latin american countries to be lost in time??
I don't know maybe ignorance is in fashion these days, beats the hell out of me.
Why shouldn't they do festivals here as in every other countrie, state, nation or other??

I'm surprised your not surprised that Puerto Rico and Venezuela etc. have computers and internet connections.

Ok, first of all: Read my first post one more time, you'll see some nice words there about Puerto Rico

Second: I don't think of Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Bolivia, Equador, Cuba or any other latin/carribian nations as lost in space or something!
I'm very glad they played outside UK, US, Germany as I mentioned earlyer.
I made this thread cause I find it a bit weird and odd that they decided to play in Puerto Rico, cause as far as I know, they haven't been there very often, have they???
I see as godd news that they play in Puerto Rico and I hope you had a great show!

OK? No hard feelings???

End of diplomacy

I think it all has to do with money. Shippin everything to Australia for just 1 or 2 gigs is expensive. Within Europe or the US (and Japan) a lot of travel can be done on the road wich is still a lot cheaper then a zillion airplanes have to fly in.

Javier I don't want to insult you but in the countries mentioned, infrastructure is still far behind if you compare to US & Europe, isn't it?. I could be wrong here though, but that's the only reason I can think of not going to South-America on a regular tour and visit 4-6 countries...

Same goes for Scandanavia in Europe, it's just a bit too far away from for example Holland / Germany / Switserland.

Untill begin/mid 90's there was still a lot of added-value to go to those places, internet not being that huge back then. It was the only way to really reach those people in those countries, a concert automatically given extra promotion. Nowadays I can imagine that added value to be a lot less. (added value = how many extra cd's will be sold due to concert)

Cost too much. Me thinking they have a budget relating to costs wich they will follow by, ie maximum cost per show or whatever. And no matter how prices are, everybody above that budget is extra margin.

I'm very curious about a p&l acount for a tour only (or projectwise, per show)
