Why not? It's a good song, they do a great rendition, and it's always fun to hear them do their take on other people's stuff. I have no idea why people get so upset about it.

It's been played on tours for so long now that it's time to get rid of it! It used to work, I agree, and I liked it when it was new, but it's been in the set list way tour after tour for years! That time could be spent on a new cover song, one that would sound as good as Shout did when it was first introduced in concerts.

They ended a lot of the These Days shows with This Ain't a Love Song-- a rather dramatic, but kind of bleak ending as Jon would just wander offstage while singing the "oh"s at the end. I really enjoyed seeing Never Say Goodbye as the end of a concert, but I think if they did it all the time, it would be predictable and loose that special feeling it brings.

Just as Laura said...

and it's not ALWAYS fun... it has gotten old...

i'd rather hear them finish with prayer, just plain old bad medicine, social disease, runaway, get ready... anything that is BJ's

I'll agree with you about Social Disease and Get Ready, but my God, aren't the other ones you mentioned *just* as old? Bad Medicine could take a rest for a tour or two with no problem -- they've been playing it consistently since 1988.

I still think it's good to see their take on other people's music, too. I agree, I wish it would be a different cover from time to time, but it ends the show on a high note, which is good.

I agree on Bad Medicine, too. But at least its their own song.

Covers are fine. I prefer a BJ song as an ender, but Twist and Shout in Stockholm for example was ok. Especially as the band stayed on stage to see the fireworks And yeah - at least Shout is upbeat!

i agree with what you've said entirely MB - I was just trying to be diplomatic so that not everyone said to me "live into now... they are not an 80s band anymore etc..."

and it lost the power it had on NJ tour

the best high note though is just a big rocker

if they ended on helter skelter, won't get fooled again (the who) or anything like that then that'd be great

all goes up in a bang

In a concert, they perform 23/24 songs. I want 23/24 songs from Bon Jovi.
And the last song...itīs important. Then they should perform a song written by them: Never say goodbye, Keep the faith, even...(itīs hard) letting you go (for example).

I think the main problem here is that around 95% of the audience actually enjoy Shout, as the whole arena/stadium/venue goes crazy when they play that song. I admit to getting carried along with it and singing and jumping my ass off, even though I'm sick and tired of Shout! (and the continuing Sleep/Medicine thing-yawn & skip to next track on the bootlegs).

When between 35.000-50.000 people go crazy, you just can't ignore it! So my guess is that BJ think that they do something cool, but for the diehardfans it's just isn't cool anymore. The general audience (who has never visited a show before, or maybe once or twice before) totally digs Shout and my guess is that's why it's stays!! Bummer....
