(and the continuing Sleep/Medicine thing-yawn & skip to next track on the bootlegs).

When between 35.000-50.000 people go crazy, you just can't ignore it! So my guess is that BJ think that they do something cool, but for the diehardfans it's just isn't cool anymore. The general audience (who has never visited a show before, or maybe once or twice before) totally digs Shout and my guess is that's why it's stays!! Bummer....
The same reason they keep doing Bad Name, Prayer, Wanted, and Bad Medicine. People LOVE these songs in a live atmosphere. I would love to see a show without Bad Name, but when you're there and you see the audience reaction to those songs, you can't deny that they please the crowd. That's what Bon Jovi is about--making people happy and being sure they leave with a smile on their faces.

All the die hards would probably enjoy a show with nothing from the usual set list, but we're so far in the minority it's laughable.

And THAT is why the sets stay the same, right on Becky! I don't agree with it staying as much the same as it tends to, but your rationale is correct.

I love when they end with shout. It makes everyone happy and I think Jon and the band enjoy performing, I know the crowd loves singing it.

Every reason given thus far in regards to why Shout sucks and is still on the setlist is absolutely right. I hate shout. I go to a Bon Jovi concert to hear Bon Jovi songs. Not Shout. They should condemn Shout to the fires of Hades. It would fit in well there.

I'd like to hear them end with Dry County. Now that would be a thrill!

These Days would make a nice show ender too. Actually, I wouldn't care if they ended the show with Lets Make it Baby (well, no...Shout is better than that), but anything but that and Shout.
