I clearly know more than you do on this.
i'm a sad geek with great music taste and an anorak for rock vocalists

WHY would you complain that Jon isn't singing like David Coverdale or Robert Plant or Ian Gillian...
dimwit - i didn't say that (see bold)

So I don't give a crap what they sang like then, or now...
the point is that screaming your lungs out for 2-3 hour shows doing tours as extensive as the NJ tours throughout the 70s (often with 3 shows a day - my uncle was telling me how he saw led zeppelin 3 times in one day at different venues around Manchester I think in the early 70s) hasn't "ruined their voices" - and they started 15 years before Jon and are still doing it today

Maybe Plant or Coverdale didnt' have those problems and that's why they sound like they did then... Jon wasn't using his voice properly, was doing damaged, found out how to better utilize it and made the appropriate changes.

Sometimes there's nasal tendencies but most of the time, he's singing from the diaphragm, not the headvoice...
go back a couple of weeks and read my post about Glenn Hughes - who explained to me his routine to be able to sing as he does... he sings from the diaphragm and the sounds he can produce are otherworldly

this is too complicated to understand, my regrets.
how patronising

Jon's voice is Jon's voice.
and again...

I He learned how to use it as an instrument.
1) i think Jon up to about 1995 and TD was one of the greatest singers of the 80s/90s with a truly unique voice... you are forgetting that Jon's vocal style changed around 1991/2 (and i would argue after the KTF tour in terms of seeing any milder attempts at singing)... but you can't deny that his voice has changed also from TD and that tour to what we have now...

2) it has never been used as an instrument - ian gillan and robert plant (especially RP) used theirs literally as an instrument duelling with the guitar parts during solo sections and songs etc...

Now it's stronger than ever.

If you like it the old way, go sit at home with a headset and listen to 7800...

that's as maybe

but my only point to DB is that your evidence that you can CONTINUE singing in a certain way which some may perceive as ruining your voice is shown:

a) by Jon himself touring 1992-96 (even look at the evening with video and tell me jon's voice is stronger now than it was then - KTF was after his so called vocal breakdown also or whatever you might wish to call it)

b) by the carreers of other vocalists who have in some cases been doing it since 1968 if not earlier with smaller bands

What show is it? I didn't bother trying to find one of his posts because I can never listen to anything on my home computer. Next question is do I have time to dig it out and find IBTFY?

I'm sure I have MK '93, but not so sure about Copenhagen.
