No No you took me up wrong...It works like this
LINKIN PARK do it for every single concert on their current tour, thats why i wrote about using modern technology and having a better profit margin than t-shirts...
After each Linkin Park concert you can go to the merchandising desk and buy a cd of that night, its like ordering a T shirt or (happy meal ,some are there ,others will take a min or so)

While the concert is on a tour truck that is equipped with very high speed cd burners are burning the show to discs.Once the masters are burnt copyin them to sellable cd's only takes seconds. Its like having a portable burning plant.

They have also taken it to another level by letting their fans by a digi package which allows them to get a link to a dvd of the night and download it at their own convinience(within a certain time limit)

Thats the way forward

That would just be the absolute coolest if Bon Jovi would do that...

The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

Thise of us that do that will still get a copy of any bootleg out there - so there is no fooling the fans. I think they would be smart to sell shows - the sound would be better.

Indeed but bootlegs are so easy to get nowadays that it is only fun to get the really really good ones, IMO.
I remember trying to get original bootlegs during the TD tour, they were expensive when you finally found one and could afford it (as being 16), it was special to have one.
A pro DVD straight from your own show would be special, but then again there would be pro DVD's all over.

the arguments that BJ dont burn their shows straight onto disc because they are 'on the way down' and 'past it' are just ridiculous and the people on here who have nothing better to do than snipe at everything they do (and i'm thinking about that dude with the Dave Lee Roth avatar) should really spend their time doing more constructive things.

The real reasons are this :

1. It would be unfeasible playing to 20,000 + people a night to satisfy demand within an hour of the show finishing
2. Every disc would sound the same because nearly every show is the same!!! There would be more pressure on Jon to change the setlist, which we all know he would never do!

See, I made a criticism which is fine, but there are lots of things I still like about Bon Jovi after 21 years as a fan, which is why I'm on this board.

Metallica made you able to download the show 2 to 3 weeks after the show. After you made your payment and chose your format (either in FLAC or MP3) you were able to download it with a specific code that was sent to you by e-mail. This worked fine for them, and the fans.

Genesis sold bootlegs of their tour while every concert had exactly the same set. The same goes for Mark Knopfler, who did this on his 2005 tour. He barely changes his setlist either, yet there was huge market for it and Genesis sold shitloads of bootlegs. ( http://www.themusic.com/encore/genesis2007/ )

The thing is, while Jon claims they're such an excellent live act, he knows that every mistake he makes live will be heard on those recordings, and when listening to a live show nowadays, he makes mistakes in about half of all the songs being sung. While these things are often not heard by the biggest part of the audience because they're too caught up in the moment, they would still be captured on the recording. If you'd give anyone a bootleg of the show a fan went to they'd be surprized at how many times Jon is struggling with the vocals, and be out of key or just skipping words.

Jon has been asked this question numerous times, but has never given a real anwer besides the "yeah we thought about that". He's not going to do it anymore because it'd show his mistakes live, and mistakes do not happen in Jon's world, and are things he's ashamed of, hence the reason why a lot of bands release DVD's from every tour apart from Bon Jovi.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Problem is, they still think they do change the setlists enough.
Plus, the common concert goer doesn't care what the previous night sounded like nor how the next show will sound. It'd just be a cool CD of the one show she/he attended her/himself. And that is still among the best and biggest rock shows on this planet.
