Default Why the band chooses rubbish support acts...

that can't hold a candle to them or even their genre of music and now rock bands such as Whitesnake.... yuor thoughts?

My answer and conclusion:

because as mongoose will confirm after tuesday and any others of you will after seeing a band such as that...

they would just completely blow BJ out of the water unless they could pull off a Moscow 89

BJ were blowing KISS and THE SCORPIONS of the stage....so what?Did this make those bands smaller???Nope it didn't.
Was this a reason not to take Jovi on tour ,no it wasn't.Your concluison is absolutely stupid.
And I don't think a band like Whitesnake would open for Bon Jovi!

And it's not a BJ decision....it's mostly a decsiosn taken by the Record Company i think.

Opening acts are usually young. There aren't any young CLASSIC ROCK bands today so who shall they take.
LIVE and 3 DOORS DOWN would fit better at a U2 show but this is it...
still better than some stupid NU METAL acts.

as usual everyone misses the subtle humour

to the joviscout wanker i extend that to at least 2000, not 1989 - clueless get. and it's much sadder to go around at whatever age anyone may be saying "I like rock music... here's a song for you: I got the girl, captain crash, you had me from hello..." I still KNOW they are an amazing band live which is why i stick around - i don't call it sad to acknowledge quality in light of material sub-standard of that.

to everyone else the point is that the band chooses bands that are WAY below them in ability and quality so that they don't get upstaged...

however moscow scenario, or even these days tour with van halen, vai etc:

have a support act that's going to give you a challenge. the crowd are usually there to see the main act... it's the support act's job to challenge this, and it's the main band's job to preserve this status quo.

i never said whitesnake would open, in fact the first 2 lines sort of gave that away didn't they if you care to read it...

i'll admit that Live are a 'big'-ish band, but there still no support act for someone like Bon Jovi.

DevilSon - you missed the point. BJ DIDN'T blow those bands out of the water... the point is though they were of a similar enough genre to be able to win some of the crowd over and keep the main acts on their tiptoes.

Therefore this statement is completely wrong- or should i say "absolutely stupid"... "Was this a reason not to take Jovi on tour ,no it wasn't.Your concluison is absolutely stupid."

and whitesnake could open for BJ... BJ just couldn't follow it. In EUrope yes they could... in Japan - well it would be different... as per south america if the band ever gets there again

Live are a fairly decent band IMO, I think they'll do great for the European tour. I was listening to one of their albums at a friends house the other day Throwing Copper, there's a good song called I Alone on the CD, reminded me of Nickelback.

Problem is - BJ r on for nearly 3 hours!! Thats a long time.

If the support act was a band who were just as good - the audience would be knackered by the 1st BJ encore.

+ I like Live - I think they r good.

Hey we'd had a bit to drink at the time, lol! I'm going to get the CD back off him when I next see him, I really liked it.
