Whitesnake were massive both in the late 70's, all through the 80's and then onto the "MTV Friendly" version, which is the Whitesnake you are thinking of

have you ever heard of Cozy Powell? John Sykes? Tommy Mooney? to name but a few?
Well, you always look like a fool so at least it is only once in while for me. :P Anyway, MASSIVE, maybe in your world but not here. They were as big here in the 70's as Cliff Richard was around here.

Then again, we know music sucks more in the UK, hence the fact Robbie Williams hit it big over there and can't do it here. Maybe the same happened with early Whitesnake.

No, it would be totally different I think.
If they could fill it then yes, I do... This is just about popularity, and nothing to do with the concert... Of cource venues get kind of different atmospheres, BUT. I saw Deep Purple at the M.E.N arena, and they didn't sell it out. I hated the atmosphere, and put it down to the venue. However, having seen Page and Plant sell the place out, it can be a good stage. The key is to sell it, or at least not to have big sections where there isn't anybody...

If Manfred Mann could sell out Old Trafford Football Stadium with fans, then they'd sound brilliant...

The problem as I see it with stadiums, is that you have only a small % of the audiance who are fans.. there are not 60-80,000 Bon Jovi fans in the Manchester area, in fact, I'd say in terms of real fans, they wouldn't comfortably sell out the MEN! But there are a lot of people going who aren't that big on the band. I'd say that's the reason the atmosphere's are different, you go to a smaller gig, and the chances are the atmosphere will be better for longer periods of the concert because the band are getting the reception they deserve. Bon Jovi's atmoshperes, and the crowds reaction is always superficial as so many people are just pop fans, who have heard "It's my life" and have nothing better to do...

Getting off the point again [/list]

my point is that a band like scorpions can headline US and Russian/East European dates... but they can't come to the UK... same with Seb Bach and many bands that tour only in the environments they are popular in

The Scorpions are/were on tour with ironically, Whitesnake. Sebastian Bach?!?! He's not popular here. He only plays in clubs....most of which never even sell out. He was only popular when he was in Skid Row.
