I agree and actually it could be very wise from them. One of my best friends who is not a Jovi fan but likes going to see them when possible, saw the O2 show on the Friday they played Santa Fe. She asked me about it at the end saying she loved it and never heard it before.

I guess in the view of some fans, only those that attended a show have the "right" to have an opinion.

Well, in this time and age people research anything and everything before making a purchase. So why can we determine in advance if what the band gives these days is worth our (increasingly higher) expense?

Those that never complain about set lists, they are all great all wonderful, just because the band is still playing (and yes of course, giving it all), may be they like to go to the same movie over and over. In my case and more and more fans lately, it looks like we are not so keen of the same movie over and over, knowing what they could be doing if they wanted, but of course... don't forget.. this is how everyone does it, others never change set lists, the production is key part of sticking to a set list, blah, blah, blah...

Yes and back in the day before Internet and checking setlists we were all very happy with getting the same setlist over and over....but not anymore. However I personally love it when they (BJ) mix it up a bit.

This is bullshit. Entire crowds can predict setlist nowadays. They sing along with the ad libs on songs and predict the "weeeeeell" part of Shout. There's nothing really surprising for a casual Bon Jovi fan either.

that's very very true AnnS it has changed the fans are more aware of it all today ..but the ticket price has changed too .... we are maybe getting similar shows like what was done in the 90's ( but I don't think so I think if you look that the catalogue was not as big as now it was more varied) BUT the price we pay implies that the fans can eventually be more demanding ... the band is more (money) demanding too ...

I don't wanna start another discussion and I don't wanna say I agree with the higher prices. I think one of the main reasons for them is the fact that music does not sell. Back in 80s and 90s people were buying CDs and singles because there was no internet. Doing promo was easier for them because there were two ways to get to wide public: MTV (or just TV) and radio, now you have a zillion options on the internet etc etc. So touring for higher prices is now the only way how to make money. Question is whether they need more money (at least to pay the crew and stuff like that) and the quality of singles and albums is also different nowadays compared to 80s and 90s so I can understand why people don't buy their albums. Fact is that people don't buy any albums.

I but a lot of albums for a lot of artists I also buy tons of books

I think times has changed YES but not just one way ... doing promo in the 90's was not easier in anyway they were working their a$$ off much more than today ... as the internet was NOT spreading cd release dates today each artist is helped 100% by the system as well as they are handicaped in cd sales too as it is easier to not pay for music ...

bon jovi makes money and plan to make money on the touring much more than many other bands ..... that doesnt mean you cannot tour in a descent way without asking horrendous price for one show

look, I will see them on their last gig of the tour, so I'm assuming that we'll be given a few special treats, especially being in Europe (Portugal). If they follow the old fashion of playing rare stuff in Europe, i will probably be lucky enough to witness them play these days or dry county (or both). However, even if they decide to throw the same set people hate (4 songs off LH, WWWB, keep the faith at the end of the set and the predictable 2 song encore with wanted and prayer) I'd still be happy as I was in 2008 in Rock in Rio. Sure, I would have paid for dry county or even blood on blood, but that was by far one of the best gigs I've been to, if not the best...

All I know is that I will witness the very last gig of a 2 year tour before a long hiatus that should last until 2013, which is the year they celebrate their 30th anniversary.
