I Believe - Sydney 2010

Two songs I really wanted to hear and got them both on the Australian leg last year. Was wrapped!

Still waiting for Bed of Roses.

Off the top of my head and without too much thought:

Hyde Park 2011 - for the sheer magic in the crowd, first time I heard Dry County and Hallelujah live
O2 2010 - (It's Hard) Letting You Go
Hyde Park 2001 - Never Say Goodbye, magic

Wembley Arena - May 16th 1993
If I'm honest I don't remember a huge amount about the gig (I will be reminded now I finally have the recording of it again) but I was just so happy, that after 7 years of them being my favourite band, to be seeing them live. I lived in Devon growing up and needless to say Bon Jovi never came down there and that coupled with friends that didn't want to go with me and parents that wouldn't take me, meant I lost out on lots of opportunities to see them live. When I went to University in 1992 it wasn't long until tickets for the 1993 KTF tour became available, and I bought a pair - for just £20 each!

Me and a mate went into London where we bought In These Arms on cassette single and it came with a free 'backstage pass' sticker, which we laughed about being real. At the gig I couldn't believe how close I was to my heros - living in a sleepy village in Devon you never think you'll be in London, let alone close enough to Bon Jovi to see their facial expressions.

One distinct memory if at the start when Jon told us that Dorothea was expecting and should he get a call then he'd be off and onto a plane that was on standby. Luckily that call never came and I got see MY band play songs like Living On A Prayer and Wanted that had been my favourites for years. I also got to see them play 'newer' songs like Bed of Roses and Dry County - unbeknown to me at the time how legendary DC would become.

The whole day was just utterly magical. I've waffled a bit so I'll be back with more moments later on!

I've only been to two shows so far, so not a lot of highlights compared to some of you guys, but still:

O2 night 11:
- Traveling to London to see my favorite band was a highlight iself. Being a part of crowd and singing most famous 'crowd-participation' parts in songs like Prayer, Bad Name, Wanted, LYHOM in itself was quite amazing for the first time
- Jon started the acoustic set with Blood Money which was a great surprise and after that he started talking "I've never sung this in public ever" I started scratching my head. Then he said "this is for the dieest and hardest fans" or something like that and I crossed fingers on both hands saying my favorite Jon's solo song "santa fe, santa fe, santa fe" and then Jon's said "here we go, it's called Santa Fe". I started screaming "yes, yes, yes!" and I remember my dad giving me a high-five. He didn't know this song, but just saw how ecstatic I was

O2 night 12:
- Before Wanted Jon did his 'thank you' speech for the whole residency and it looked like the show is going to end soon. After the song he started the acapella "we've got to...". I was dissapointed because the set was quite vanilla and I was thinking that they really didn't want to end the leg with a bang. But then Jon stopped, said he's not ready for that, pointed to the banner asking for These Days and then David started the intro. My reaction was identical to Kuba80's. At that point they hadn't played the album version of this song on the TC tour so it was a big surprise. Although I was a bit pissed with the mixing crew, because a couple of times in the end Jon's mic went on and off for a few seconds and I didn't hear one of his "ain't nobody left but us these days" lines in the end.
- After TD Jon closed his eyes and out of nowhere with no intro started singing "It ain't no fun lying down to sleep". I'm a huge fan of TD album, but caught in a moment the first 20 seconds I couldn't even tell what song he was singing. I felt slight dissapointment when I realized it was Letting You Go and not My Guitar..., but in the end it's still a major highlight. This was the first performance of this song in 14 years if I'm not mistaken and the only one before they did it again in Bristol this week. And a great performance, very heartfelt by Jon. Since that, I've learned to appreciate this song even more. It's ringing in my head and I'd definitely be listening to this song right now if I wasn't at work

I'm doing a show in Vienna next month, so I realize there's not a lot of chances of getting mega-rare stuff like stuff I got at my first 2 shows, but something regular for diehards like Always, Dry County, Love's The Only Rule or electric Saturday Night would be a major higlight as I haven't heard those live yet. These Days again would be fantastic as well, these past two years it's definitely been one of if not the best live song from their catalogue. Glad to see Jon finally finding some more love to this song compared to the way he used to perform it in 2003-2008 period. Off course, Something To Believe In or Never Say Goodbye would be incredible, but I don't have much hope for that, because Vienna is not considered to be one of those places that Jon loves the most and gives the best setlists.

All 3 Sydney shows last year were unbelievable. Night 2 and 3 had amazing setlists, But my favorite was night 3, getting Raise Your Hands, I Believe, Thorn In My Side, Blaze Of Glory, Hallelujah (In the pouring rain), Love For Sale, Something To Believe In, Happy Now, Sat Night (Electric), Dry County & These Days all in the one show, with an extremely passionate performance from the boys.

My first Bon Jovi gave me - Saturday Night, Dry County and I'll Be There For You which were stunning and i loved etc.

After that it just got better, Let It Rock at the o2, Always in Manchester etc. My favourite song in Edinburgh, These Days. That show also included, Wild Is The Wind, Something To Believe In and (You Want To) Make A Memory, 4 out 5 on my bucket list (which was surreal for one night.) Getting Lay Your Hands On Me sung by Jon, in hyde park, I've always loved that song. Just that show in general i guess.

To be honest out of my seven Bon Jovi Shows i'd say they've all been cracking, the worst being Manchester last week and that is saying something as the only letdown was the setlist.

Going to London and getting to see my favourite band for the first time ever was of course a magic moment itself, but... I never thought I'd get to hear These Days on my first concert, although that was my biggest wish.

Therefore, the most magical moment in my Bon Jovi history has to be when the These Days intro reached my ears in Hyde Park five days ago. I freaked out and couldn't stop crying, but I can assure you, those tears were tears of pure happiness.

Taking my daughter to her first concert to see BJ at Manchester on the LH tour, expecting them to open with LH but instead we got Prayer! Loved the look on her face. She kept asking will they play Last Cigarette (one of her favourites) and I said no chance. So glad I was wrong.

New Jersey tour 2nd leg (europe) at Birmingham Nec sometime in December 89
a few moments:
The night before we got the usual LYHOM intro, so when the houselights went down we expected the same(no great problem there though). Instead the lights went down and a single spotlight shone on a silhouetted Sambora blasting out the RYH riff.
Having the catwalk lowered straight in front of us for RS and JBJ to run out and play LIR.
Acoustic versions of Prayer and I,ll be there for you. Spine tingling!

OWN tour at MK Bowl, the whole show really was just great.

These Days and Dry County in Hyde Park a few days ago. Two out of my three favourites in the same show - it doesn't get much better than that for me. The third one is Bitter Wine and I sort of never really realistically even hope I'll hear that one live.

Wild is the Wind - I feel very fortunate having heard this one live! It's one of my favourites and I really like the lyrics.

I've got Runaway twice out of the four times I've seen the band and even though it isn't a rare song per se, I'm still thrilled having heard it more than once! It's the song that started it all both for the band and me and I still like it.

Diamond Ring! I seriously cried when they played this one. Hadn't expected it and it was so beautiful live.

Blood Money a wonderful combination along with Wanted and it's one of my personal highlights from the shows I've been to.
