Default Another ´Best of´ from U2

From u2.com

I was expecting another one in 2010 (Best of 2000 - 2010), not 2006. It´s kind of weird since they´ve released only 1 studio album after the previous ´Best of´ (1990 - 2000), but since christmas is coming, it kind of makes sense. At least it has the usual 2 new songs.

Definitive ‘Best Of’ On The Way

Sixteen of U2’s best known songs and two new tracks are on a single ‘Best of” CD released next month.

No word on a title for the album yet nor what the track-listing is but the release date is set for November 20th.

Along with 16 of the band’s best known songs (start predicting them now!) one of the two new tracks is the band’s collaboration with Green Day while the other is a brand new song.

Both were recorded during sessions at London’s Abbey Road last month and are produced by Rick Rubin.

Ahead of the new collection, the U2/Green Day version of The Skids’ track ‘The Saints Are Coming’ will be released as a digital download on 30th October and as a CD single on 6th November.

Proceeds from ‘The Saints’ will benefit Music Rising

The bands’ debuted the song live at the re-opening of the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans last Monday. Catch a stream of the live version here where it is also available for US-only download.

More news on the album – including the tracklisting – as soon as we get it!

So....it's just songs since the last album was released or a single disc best of with tracks from previous best of's ie what aerosmith is doing?

I guess you can tell when x-mas gets near simply by the amount of greatest hits cds out.

Which also co-incides nicely with the remainder of the postponed Vertigo Tour in Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Hawaii.

Very clever, indeed.

So its gonna be like a "best of the best" type thing???

Chris, maybe rescheduling was a blessing in disguise, at least you should get to hear the new songs live :jealoussmiley:

im not happy, SO many good songs are going to be left out on this.

On their last ''best'' off, 1990-2000 they still couldnt fit on a number of great songs from that era such as Walk On, Elevation, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses to name a few, and included a few random choices such as 'the first time' and 'numb'. I believe one of their best songs ' The fly' wasnt included on some versions of this collection in some countries.

Once again, whatever criteria bands now adays use to pick their 'best' tracks doesnt seem to be the best, I feel that collections such as this should be fan picked, unless they are simply ''greatest hits' records rather than 'best offs'.

The new oasis collection leaves off a few shockers (Roll with it, Hindu times etc), REM's best off had a few missing, and well - we know about Bon Jovi......

meh
