U2's new album.

I love it. Imo their best work since Achtung Baby, if not Joshua Tree.
I find it amazing how they managed to get back to their basics and still sound new. Something some bands (hint?) promise album after album without achieving it. U2 did it.

I liked Vertigo from the first listen on the radio... It's the least good song on the album. Some great ones on there : Sometimes you can't make it on your own, Love and Peace or Else, Crumbs from your table, One step closer, Original of the species... Not one filler, and a real album as a whole, not just songs one after the others.

The DVD that came with it is great too. Good interviews and clips (Vertigo Temple bar mix is hilarious)...

Can't wait to see them live... won't miss them this time.

I'm loving this CD right now. It's one of my favorites already. Probably my favorite since The Joshua Tree. I can't wait until they go on tour next year. I will definitely be there. One of my big regrets (musically speaking) has been not getting to see U2 live. I haven't got the chance to watch the DVD yet though. I should do that seeing as how I made the guy at Best Buy go and hunt one down for me.

Like I said in another thread, I like it.
Because of the really cool album title I probably expected another Joshua Tree which in my opinion it is not.
On my first listen I read the lyrics in the booklet and I was rather disappointed how lyrically weak it is. Finally, the last page in the booklet wich tells I should donate to, I don't know - a dozen?, relief organizations. Not that I am too bothered about it, in the end I "know" Bono.
After I put the booklet aside I really enjoyed the great soundscapes. And the lyrics aren't as bad as they seemed on first listen.
Favorites would be Vertigo, Miracle Drug, Sometimes..., City Of Blinding Lights and the musically outstanding Crumbs From Your Table!
Yes, the Temple Bar mix is hilarious.
And yes, I won't miss them either next year!

Im leaning towards getting it even though I resent giving them my hard earned bling.

Wasn't goign to sere them next year at Balloch but i saw them live ont he telly the other night and think I might just go and see if I can get myself n some mates listed or get some tickets outside for a reasonable price.

It's a great CD I love the song man and a woman and sometimes you can't make it on your own. All the songs are good, the bass is really loud and Edge is awsome as usual. Can't wait tell they come to Toronto

the song how to dismantle an atomiic bomb was supposed to be called how to make an atomic bomb, i know this because U2 were on friday night with jonathen woss last week and they said and i think it had some refernce to bonos dad or something

I got the album this week and after only one play I thought it was a pretty good album. It flows well from song to song, just need to listen a few more times before I can make a fair judgement.


I downloaded the Jonathon Ross show this week Gaz as I missed the broadcast, and Bono said that the song Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own was written about his father, who has died around 2 years ago.

He said that the whole album had a post 9/11 theme to it, hence the original planned title How To Build An Atomic Bomb, but as they wrote it it changed. He then said he then wanted the album title to be How To Dismantle An Atomic Bob (Bob being his father I believe) but again it changed.
