Kiss at Download????????????

Uhm, isn't that like the heaviest music festival there is.

And they're having a glam-rock group (alright, legends in their own right, but still...) headlining?

Not sure how to take that...lol.

Aloha !

They're also confirmed for the Arrow Rock Festival in Holland. Why are they touring Europe now? Doing festivals isn't one of the most lucrative markets when it comes to cashing in.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

No ... It's not exactly Bloodstock or Wacken

Download is essentially Kerrang The Festival ... if you look at the other bands that have been announced so far (www.downloadfestival.co.uk), they're not exactly death metal. Last year Motley Crue headlined the second stage on the Saturday, so Kiss aren't a million miles off

Kiss never was or is a glam Rock band (like Slade or TRex). DonÄt say they are "Glam" just because of the makeup. They rock hard and are pioneers in rock and metal music. Ask the bands you consider "heavy" and most of them will name Kiss as their influence. Go see them they still rock hard (in comparison to other bands not mentioned here!)

My apologies, I'm probably doing the same thing people do when they class Jovi as a "hair" band, and I despise that, so my humble, heartfelt regrets.

I've just never thought of Kiss as hard rock though, even listening to their music. But I suppose, as pioneers, it's hard to define exactly what they are - it's the bands that come after and copy them that turn it into a genre that can then be classified.

And just for the record, I have no problem with Kiss - they're legends, though these days maybe a bit too much of a cartoonish caricature of themselves. Too Spinal Tap for me. Ultimately, Aerosmith will beat them hands down every time for me.

I simply find it hard to envision them in a line up that in the past has included bands like Linkin Park, Evanescance, Metallica to name a few. Iron Maiden though aren't too far off Kiss, just a bit darker image which suits the Download festival more.

At least Kiss don't need any Botox like Steven Tyler (who looks terrible) to hide their age they have the makeup .
I like em both but the last good Aero CD was in 1997 with "Nine Lives". Kiss just dont make a new cd as they know they won't surpass their old classics!
SPinal Tap is the LH tour for me !

I don't like music which is "dark" or depressive. That's what bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam brought into music. Kiss is all about having a laugh and good fun! That's what it is all about!

Kiss are like Spinal Tap IMO. They are more along the line of cartoon characters rather than rockers.
