Default Pink Floyd

I did a search and for the first 10 pages I could only find topics detailing releases, deaths and reunions, so I figured I'd just create a thread to discuss everything about this band that are the musical versions of God

I only own two albums as I've not been into them for long, The Wall and The Division Bell, both superb albums, never liked The Division Bell at first and would only listen to What Do You Want From Me, Keep Talking and High Hopes but now I'm really loving it. Loved The Wall since the first time I listened to it.

I've heard the masterpiece that is Darkside Of The Moon, borrowed it from the library and ripped it, will buy my own copy soon, I did the same with Wish You Were Here. Oh and my dad has Echoes but meh, Pink Floyd aren't right for compilation albums. Dad also has a few of their albums on tapes but I can't find the tape player

Oh btw, which album would you guys recommend I get next? They're all about £15-£20 over here so if I'm gonna shell out that much money for a Pink Floyd CD it might as well be one that's been recommened by a Pink Floyd fan. The only cheap ones I found were The Division Bell at £8 which I picked up and Animals at £7.50 which I didn't get and now deeply regret as it's no longer in Tesco's

I'm not even sure why I love them so much, they're just so...magical (?). David Gimour is a kick-ass guitarist.

I just wish I was born years and years earlier so I could have seen them live

amazon is dirt cheap for their albums... even new.

i haven't stepped foot in hmv or virgin for years.

i love roger water's radio kaos if you're looking for something a little different. great concept album and the last song is the tits (just like any concept album should end)

i saw roger waters do DSOTM in london a few years back. absolutely astounding gig.

I wanted to see Roger Waters this year, performing Dark Side in full for the last time. But alas I had bought tickets to see Jovi in Coventry, I had bought tickets for Bryan Adams already and then I bought some cheap tickets for Jovi at the last minute for Jovi again in Twickers - that all left me too skint to afford Roger Waters at over £50 I should really get a weekend job.

as for the ticket price, it's the one show i've spent that sort of money on and not regretted it inthe slightest.

bon jovi i'll pay over the odds for because i know i'll love the show but u2, the police and a few more i've been to see have been major let downs for the price.

Saw David Gilmour Live At Gdansk on TV last night. Brilliant guitarist, in one of the songs (one off The Division Bell, I think) he played an amazing steel guitar solo. That's how a steel guitar should be used, not just played a little bit by some fat cunt to make the songs sound more country (like a certain band...)

Still, great band, I really need to get their first two albums on CD

That was during High Hopes and I agree it really was a ****ing amazing solo. He made an already brilliant song even better.

To be honest I didn't really like the main song that much, but it definitely picked up towards the end, with all the solos.

Comfortably Numb was...well, I'm gonna listen to it again in a minute

I had gone off Comfortably Numb because I overplayed it a while ago, but when I bought Live In Gdansk I got right into it again. And then when I watched the actual performance last night, man I was blown away.

I was blown away again with the same song but from Live Aid.

If only I was a fan back then to watch the reunion

Animals is also a favorite of mine - but I also like their very early psychedelic stuff. A Saucerful of Secrets (remastered version) is superb if that early instrumental stuff appeals to you.

I've been a fan for a long time - like since the beginning. If you don't have the DVD release of Pulse I would say it's a must have.
