Either get Animals, or IMO one of the best workds under the name of pink floyd, The final cut. Ofcourse it just has the name of pf as in everyway it's a Waters solo album, but it's great.

Get Roger Waters' "In The Flesh" double live album. For me, it's one of the 10 best releases in rock music ever. I love it so much. I also have the DVD and seen him on that tour, sitting 5th row. Unbelievable. Seen him in 2006 and it was also great. But that CD is a masterpiece. They way he performs "Dogs" is beyond words. Amazing band he has! And you get some of his finest solo songs. I totally love his "Amused To Death" record, but it took me some years to get into it. The versions on "In The Flesh" are totally perfect. Listen to "Perfect Sense" - wow!

I really do adore Pink Floyd, and I right now the "Echoes" compilation is just perfect for me. I like how they faded all those different songs into each other, like on a real Pink Floyd album. My favourite albums are

Wish You Were Here
The Wall
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason
The Division Bell

But they are all great in some way. If I'm in the mood, I even like "The Final Cut" - "Not Now John" is one of their best tunes! But to come back to Roger Waters, when he does "Southampton Dock", it gives me chills. It leaves the studio versions worlds behind.

This year I also bought David Gilmour's "Remember That Night" DVD. Brilliant. Some of his new solo songs are really good (I adore "Remember that night" and "Smile"), and when he plays "Echoes" I go nuts. Too bad I missed him on tour.

In conclusion, Pink Floyd are/were one of the best bands out there - ever. Today, all you can do, is pick up the leftovers and see the guys on their solo tours, but still that is amazing, because they play these tunes you love, and they do it well. Nothing has touched me in a long time like the music of Pink Floyd. "Confortably Numb" and "Learning To Fly" might be my favourite tunes, among many many others.

I did see Roger Waters performing Dark Side of the Moon and more. What an outstanding show that was. The sound, incredible !!
I bought the Live in Gdansk Box (2cd+1dvd) of David Gilmour but I must say you hardly hear the orchestra playing along and the version of Comfortably Numb isn't that great as well. I prefer the solo of the Gilmour on PULSE and Albert Hall way more.

What my suggestion for you to get is:
- David Gilmour - Live at Royal Abert Hall (The sound is badly mixed though. You have to turn the volume of your system to maximum in order to hear something)
- Pink Floyd - P.U.L.S.E. * Is standing far above all other DVD's when it comes to sound, songs, lights and experience
- Roger Waters - In The Flesh Live (2CD or 1DVD, you choose. I have both)

Both are dvd's. I don't have any Pink Floyd CD's atm except Echoes (poor compilation) and the Super Audio Version (DTS) of Dark Side of the Moon.
I always prefer live shows more. I rip the audio of those live-shows and put it on CD myself or place it on my iPhone.
The last thing that I saw that was stunning was 'Echoes' on the Gdansk-DVD. What I didn't like was that they didn't put the entire show on the DVD and it has no DTS Surround but only Dolby Digital 5.1.

Get PULSE Gold, you will love it. Roger Waters left PF at that time but the show is very very very good. Sorrow, Run Like Hell, Coming Back to Life etc. etc.

Why are you still reading this? Go buy PULSE !

I salute you,
Thunderstrucker

Ah it's winter again so that means another period of Pink Floyd obsessive indulgence.

I just can't listen to them in the summer, I don't get the same feeling. But it's ok, because that means I can look forward to each winter to start listening again

Wish You Were Here is just a masterpiece.

Depressive times ask for depressive, but brilliant, music.

I know the feeling

Interesting concept but probably true. During the summer I drive around with the windows down blasting loud rock - it's usually not Pink Floyd. I guess I do tend to listen to them more in the winter.

Atom Heart Mother and Meddle are worth checking out too in my opinion. If, Fat old sun, Fearless and Echoes are all brilliant songs.

I never was a huge fan of Pink Floyd myself, but not long ago I saw the video for "High Hopes" on VH-1 Classic and it totally got me. I immediately bought "The Division Bell" and it's a fantastic album. But you have to be in the mood for it. I'm sure I'll listen to it quite often during the winter and I'll probably check out more of the older Pink Floyd stuff as well.

Dark side of the moon is a masterpiece, and comfortably numb is quite possibly the best song written by a rock band - ever.

Enough said.

I grew up listening to my brother's band play Pink Floyd songs in high school but back then, i was maybe 6 yrs old and didn't appreciate them as much as i do now. Now I wish i had seen them live just because of their crazy light shows
Anyway, there was a time when i listened to them non-stop, then needed a break and now i listen to them once in a while but when i do, i truly enjoy it!
Dark side of the moon is one of my favs too.
