richie wanted to do a greatest hits after 2 albums.... (oh yes- the fact that he said "with 2-3 new tracks" and the fact that he is the bj guitarist changes everything)

Robbie is a pretty self questioning guy at times and I've seen interviews where he's been really down and negative about himself but he gets onstage and that persons gone for a few hours.... performing helps him.

I don't think he'll ever break the US big style on account of him being so undeniably British and wearing it on his sleeve so well.

Same goes for Oasis.

Nah, it might not have got to #1 but it still sold over a million copies, no need to re-release it only 7 years later. Plus we hear it all the time at xmas anyway.

Didnt manage to catch Robbies new tune, although from the comments and the sound to the song im not sure im gonna like it. It will be interesting to see how he fairs without his co song writer Guy Chambers though.

good laugh, mate! i know that singers are usually credited with some writing stuff but i put my hand into the fire that robbie didn't write one single word or tune in ANY of "his" songs, just like britney, just like avril lavigne, just like justin timberlake, aso... i'm not even too sure if jon or richie wrote everyday or iml....

Why do you think he started playing guitar after he fired Guy? He needs to be able to write at least some basic chords and stuff for his songs now.

Apparently when he was first looking for a record deal he was reading some of the poems he had written to the managers or something, and they signed him because of them, because he was so good at writing the words. He'll probably have got more co-writers to help him structure the music and such, but they are his songs. I don't know if you've read his Nobody Someday book, it's pretty good, talks about all this and how no-one will believe he writes them himself, but I don't think he cares what people think really. I might get his new book Feel soon, see how that is.

Nothign wrong with co writers.

some people love writing music but can't sing or don't want allt he hassle of playign live etc...

and I can tell you for a fact that avril lavigne writes all her lyrics. to be honest if I hired a lyricist and he came up with some of the stuff she's wrote I wouldn't even pay him

I always thought Oasis was pretty popular here. Especially What's the Story, Morning Glory album.

As for Robbie, what made me hate him was that stupid Milennium song, which a lot of people here loved. When I heard other songs by him, I thought he was a pretty good artist. I hope he does break into this market. I would buy his Greatest Hits album.
