For some reason, no McCartney compositions in there, other than his bridge in A Day In The Life. He's still great, though.

Someone can't count to 5...

EDIT: Jem that is. How can so many posts/threads be made in the time it takes me to make one?

One of these days I'm going to find the time to write about the Beatles in this thread. Every time I start to post something I run out of time - and this band was so good they deserve better than a quick - "yeah I liked them"

To be honest; I think that most songs in that list are just average compared to other Beatles stuff. And no way I'd rate Hapiness Is A Warm Gun and Don't Let Me Down among the best Beatle songs. They're average to me. And regarding George, I just think McCartney is my favourite Beatle and I don't really care about the others when it comes to my favourites. Ringo, Lennon and George are all equally as important to me.

A top 5 would be something like this:

1. Let It Be:
First song that really touched me and made me realize that music could do something to you. Keep in mind that I was only 8 years old when I heard it for the first time.

2. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (reprise)
Because of the guitar solo's that McCartney and his band included in the live versions from 1989 and 1993, it's a true rock song. And besides that, the drum rhythm reminds me a little bit of Supersonic by Oasis.

3. Mother Nature's Son:
Always reminds me of a very little boy I used to hang out with. When he cryed he went to his daddy, but to me he was always a boy that looked like his daddy but acted like his mother. He had his mother's eyes, and whenever I saw him I saw the love his mother had for him and he had for his mother, even though he was still way too young to realize it. He was the best mother nature could give to his mother. I don't know, I can't really explain it any better, I think.

4. Hey Jude:
Still the best sing along song ever. The live versions still give me goosebumps sometimes and it's one of the reasons I'd like to see McCartney again. I remember one time when someone said she thought McCartney was overrated and I gave her a live version of this song. She immediatly took it back and said that if someone could write something that could make thousands of people sing along to it he cant' be overrated.

5. Back In The USSR:
One of the best classic rock & roll songs for me and a blast to sing under the shower or just with one acoustic guitar. When Abe (McCartney's current drummer) added some fills to it it was one of the highlights of the 2003 show for me.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

i think i know exactly what you mean there, when he played it when i saw him i had never heard anything quite like it before andi've never heard anything like it since. It's hard to explain, anyway it was simply amazing. Which is why it's my number 1 song

Hapiness Is A Warm Gun is one I included in my list because of how it takes you through all the different sections, which are barely the same song but somehow hang together. Plus, it has great vocals.

I don't know why I added Don't Let Me Down in there, actually, great song, but looking back I don't think it compares to the other songs I listed. What are your favourite songs by the others?

Great list by the way.

Brilliant band. Let It Be is one of my favourite songs, full stop. Just such a great song with such a great message. I also really love Yesterday, Hey Jude, and...argh, it's hard to pick favourites because they've done so many brilliant songs.

My favourite member - probably Lennon.

They're one of those bands that are hard to dislike, aren't they?

Aye aye aye.

Man, I always hated The Beatles, overated and overblown by miles. Well, I always loved I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You, but apart from them two I couldn't stand The Beatles. When I was a kid I was an Elvis guy, loved him so much, he was my Beatles, he was the one who could do know wrong to me, he was like my first musical obsession.

Oh and it didn't help that when I was around 10 my hairdresser gave me one hell of a bloody awful moptop haircut, I looked like I could have been in The Beatles, so seeing their pictures everywhere always reminded me of that tough period of time

But in the last year or so I downloaded I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You...oh and Smells Like Teen Spirit but that isn't a Beatles song. But yeah I downloaded them and remembered how catchy and awesome they were.

And bit by bit I'd check out more of their stuff. I learned that they were the band to do Let It Be and With A Little Help Of My Friends. Help was a song I soon discovered and instantly fell in love with, along with My Guitar Lies Weeping In My Arms. Helter Skelter soon followed. Oh and then I began liking All You Need Is Love, a song I spent my life hating.

Then I heard Here Comes The Sun, a beautiful song. I Am The Walrus and Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds also became songs I'd enjoy. Hey Jude however, though I don't skip it if it happens to play, it's not a song I look for just to put on.

So yeah, now I love them I don't have any of their albums yet but I just know that they'll be a band who's music I will enjoy looking forward to buying once I start getting their albums, much how I feel about Bon Jovi and a few other bands/artist.

Oh but do not worry Elvis, for I still love you too.
