Default Recommendations for new bands to check out?

I've been trawling through the 'what you listening to now thread' and youtube-ing bands to get some new stuff and thought a seperate thread might be an easier way of doing it. (Just found Black Stone Cherry this way about an hour ago - awesome)

I have had plenty of people recommend bands to me recently but nothing has particularly grabbed me so was wondering what people on here would recommend?

Cheers

Have you heard of The Gas Light Anthem. They're one of Bruce Springsteen's favourite new bands. They're second album The '59 Sound is awesome. They sound like a cross between Bruce and The Killers, but also different in a way. I reckon you'd like them.

The other one is Frank Turner. I went to see him 4 weeks ago and he was awesome. He's an acoustic rock singer songwriter from London. He's a really good songwriter. His second album Love Ire and Song is probably his best.

Two GREAT recommendations!

The new Alice In Chains album is worth a look too, it's the best thing they've ever done (sorry Layne).

I'll chip in another vote for The Gaslight Anthem -- '59 Sound is really good.

If you're at all inclined toward the blues or blues-rock, give Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam a try. Davy is a 22-year-old kid from the Isle of Man, but he doesn't play or sing like a kid. There's a old soul living inside him. They opened for Chickenfoot here in Atlanta, and I was dazzled. They're coming back here to play a very small venue in a few weeks. Can't wait.

No worries bud. You'll love them. I was at a total loss for new music a year or so ago, then I discovered The Gaslight Anthem and more recently Frank Turner. I feel much better now that I know at least there are some new artists making good music.

Are Gotthard one of these jokey 80's throwback taking the piss bands? They sound like it. Or an old band not knowing when to quit??
