Maybe this means that they'll finally release a greatest hits collection.

They have more greatest hits collections than you could ask for.

Having been a teenager in the 80īs, thereīs a special place in my heart for them. I wasnīt that much into their big ballads but it was merely the rockers on albums like Crazy World or Savage Amusement that I liked the most. Their 70īs stuff didnīt interest me that much.

I wasnīt actually aware of their more recent albums at all. It was only after having read this thread that I learned they had worked with DC in 2007. In the 80īs, the collaboration of The Scorpions and DC would have been big time news indeed. Now it seems to have gone mainly unnoticed. Such a pity. Iīve got to get that album and see how it sounds.

Child, Bazilian, Frederikssen, Carlsson. Sounds familiar, right?

It's one big family.

I like the "Humanity" album, but it's not their best. "Crazy Wold" was my first Scorpions album, but I like "Face The Heat" and "Pure Instinct" more. The latter is really "their These Days".

I bought "Humanity" yesterday. I really havenīt had that much time to properly listen to it yet but Iīve managed to hear it once by now.

I like it but I it may not be their best album... As itīs been said before, it reminds me of the new solo album by Paul Stanley (which is fine by me). Same guys writing the songs. Iīve always appreciated DCīs way of writing big choruses. What I donīt like too much is the concept idea of humans vs robots. I could do without it.

I think I said it in the thread before. I love "Pure Instinct", others don't. It's not the typical hard rock sound, but I'll defend it till the end.

This is what makes it "their These Days":

- It was released in 1996, so it has a similar vibe to it. Many albums from other bands/artists 1994-1996 tend to have a ballad-heavy, acoustic-driven, singer-songwriter vibe. It was the zeitgeist.
- As being said, the album contains a lot of melancholy ballads, mostly based on acoustic guitars. It starts off with a cool rock song which I consider one of their best, "Wild Child", and from then on delivers about the same amount of "rockers" as These Days does. Around 3. The albums ends off with a melancholy love song, "Are You The One?", compared to "Diamond Ring".
- The biggest hit off the album was "You & I", a class ballad.
- The album offers a bigger variety of sounds and creative ideas than the standard Scorpions album (apart from "Eye To Eye", which is something completely different of course).
- And the biggest criteria: Though being really good in its own way, it wasn't as successful as the band hoped it would be, and in recent setlists it gets totally ignored.

Yeah, you should definitely get it! I agree on "Humanity". It has some good tunes, but isn't their best. It fails on trying to heavily to be a concept album. But the title track is a first class Scorpions anthem!

Sounds very reasonable. I do like You&I, itīs a very good ballad (the only track Iīve actually heard on that album).
Iīll get back on the topic once Iīve heard Pure Instinct, too.
