All That YOu Can't Leave Behind won Grammies 2 years in a row. I remember them beating Jovi twice in 2000 - for best rock band and for best rock song. Also, in 2001 they won another 4 or 5 Grammies. And they had a few from earlier years so...they must have at least 15...

Anyway...The Bomb albums is much worse tha All That...I mean It's A Beautyful Day was a class A pop rock song. Elevation was pretty much a copy of it. They are pretty much going the same path as BJ. Both suck anyway!

I meant VERTIGO (not Elevation) in the other post...and I just checked it ... U2 had 15 Grammies before. Now they have 20 ...they really should sell some on Ebay

Still, I was wondering, wat for did they get 5 Grammies last night? For Bono being socially active? I can't imagine it was for the music since The Bomb thingy they did was utter crap. One of the most boring albums they ever recorded. I like U2 but nowadays they are only appreciated for being U2.

I think, you're absolutely right.

U2 is good of course (I like many of their songs, I was in a U2 concert, that was good too), but it's ridiculous, that they did anything, they automatically receive awards.

My opinion isn't against U2, it is against the awards.

U2 is getting Grammys because they are U2, not necessarily because of their current music. I like their old stuff but ever since that POP album they have been way too techno for me.

Same with Madonna... her old stuff... great... now she is all techno and sucks ass.

yes, with the difference that U2 has always been (and always will be) worshipped as the main expression of pop-rock music of our time. I wonder what critics would say if U2 decided to make an acoustic best of...

I like alot of U2's music (mostly up to Acthung Baby), but I honestly feel as though they could release a hip-hop cover album, and critics would still praise them for their originality.

I'm not saying their music sucks now. Obviously, it doesn't as they have a very large following. However, I find absolutely nothing earth shattering about anything they have done in the past decade.
