I was at manchester, and considering how politically charged a lot of their songs are (not in "socially aware" Bounce sense i.e. ********), one kind of expects a strong message.

We should give him and Geldoff credit for trying to do something:

30,000 children day a day in Africa.
Im with Jim on this, I was at Manchester (no complaints from me about the sound btw) and the only thing that spoiled it for me was Bonos speaches. This may sound selfish to some but when I go to a concert I wana have a good time and leave all the world problems outside. I didnt pay £60 to be preached to I wanna hear live music.

I actually like JBJs whole attitude on stage, its a 100% fun lighthearted show, whatever else you say about them live.

As I said though I didnt notice any sound problems and overall it was a great gig.

Well after reading all the complaints about the sound on this tour, I was a little sceptical about the show I was heading to at Dublin at the weekend. I needn't have been.

Friends of mine were in the stands on Friday night and said the sound was fantastic. I was on the floor on Saturday night and the sound was great again. Now I have seen some people complaining about both nights at Croke, but no-one I know who went had any issues at all. Oh, and just for you Jim, I'm a trained sound engineer so I know what's good and what's not.

I thought the sound quality was excellent, and to be honest most of the bootlegs from this tour have been great quality too so. I'm not saying the sound wasn't a problem in some parts of some stadiums, but from what I know from being there and most of my friends say the same having sat/stood in different parts, then the two shows at Croke were spot on.

On a slightly cheerier note, here's a couple of pics from Saturday's show:

I don't think it sounds selfish at all. That is one of the things I really dislike about Bruce. I can't stand when people take advantage of a captive audience like that. Perform, because that is what people are paying for and in the end that is what their job is. If they want to preach, save it for political fundraisers and social awareness concerts and what not.

No, but I see him giving a lot back to Jersey and Philly. Just because he isn't trying to save the world doesn't mean that he isn't trying to make a difference, especially in the place that he grew up in. Sometimes you get more accomplished by taking on these small tasks rather than huge ones. At least it is easier to keep track that the money is going to the right places.

not wanting to piss on your bonfire mad4 jovi but I cant imagine the sound being too different from venue to venue and this was literally the worst concert soundwise I've heard apart from amateur bands.

I spoke to carli about this when we met saying I probably look into live gigs and sound alot more from being in a band so stuff that she wouldnt even notice would piss me off no end. if you're a pro engineer I'm sure the sound would have horrified you.

As I said, apart from the sound, the gig was really good. not great but good.
