I think Libertad sounds the way it does because Scott Creiland wanted them to use Producer Brendan O'Brien. Who was the producer for most/all STP albums. I thought that the songs on Libertad sounded like an STP album with Slash making poor attempts at guitar solo's.

That I agree with that 100%. I chalk it up to the influence of Creiland and his producer. I really had high hopes for the followup to Contraband. At this point the only reason why I would want VR to continue would be for Slash and Duff to have some sort of commercial success.

Let's face it. While great, the last Snakepit album wasn't racing up the charts. I also highly doubt that Gn'R will have a reunion anytime soon. I personally hope that Creiland sticks with STP and VR gets Izzy back in the fold to sing. Too bad he hates to tour.

If I didn't know any better I would think Axl and Scott are related - both are so insane.

And God knows we don't need another Axl Rose, as hilarious as he is. Though he's not intentionally funny...

I think the only song I really liked off Libertad was Grave Dancer. It's truely a great song and just takes me back to the that time. The rest, I still think to this day, is dull. That's probably why I'm not the least bit gutted if VR were to split.

And I agree, VR could have and should have been a better band than they are, given the roster.

Taken from Blabbermouth

VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash has dismissed reports that the band will split up following its current European trek.

During the band's March 20 concert in Glasgow, singer Scott Weiland apparently told fans they were "watching something special ... the last tour by VELVET REVOLVER."

Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat, Slash said, "Well, let's put it this way — this is not VELVET REVOLVER's last tour."

Man, I don't think the guys in that band even talk to each other anymore. Everyone is giving a different answer. I'm still hoping that the boot Creiland out and carry on as VR with a different singer. Maybe it's time to call up Rod Jackson after all. He would be a perfect fit for VR. IMO anyway.

Saw them 3 times - the first tour was much better than when I saw them last year. Kind of lost interest in them because it was a very lacklustre performance.

On the first tour, they were awesome, and Libertad just isn't anywhere close to Contraband as an album either.

Does anyone know why Izzy doesnt like to tour ? I'm not really a fan of Scott either and he far suited STP than VR , however Slash seems to believe in him doesn't he so i cant see a change happening just yet .

From everything I've read (Slash's book, Mags, Interviews, Etc) Izzy is very introverted and doesn't like the "grind" of touring. He likes writing and recording but he doesn't like life on the road. When Gn'R was trying to record the Illusions Albums Izzy went back to Indiana for a while just to get away. He also went back to Indiana when we wanted to get clean. He's just not into it.

I'm with you UKJovi - Let the Deleo bros. deal with Weiland. He's better suited in STP than VR anyway. I feel for Slash though. The guy just can't seem to find a singer who isn't a total head case.
