I can't wait for Star Wars to get it's 12-disc boxset release after Episode III is released, so it will be able to spend more than half a day of non-stop Star Wars watching.
12 disc!?!?!?!?

It was changed, really? And I hated the ending to that movie. I told everyone it stank. I complained about all the way home. The ending ruined the movie experience for me, and I am not interested in Spider Man at all. I am not going to see the second one or watch the first one again in my life.

You have a point. And I do like how the three Lord of the Rings movies do run into each other and seem flawless in the transition. That's nice. Never had an interest for Star Wars, the Matrix, or Back to the Future, but my boyfriend loves them.

Im getting sick of sequels, myself. It's probably because Hollywood is obsessed with them. All the comic book movies are having sequels.. all of them.. i cant think of one that isnt having one coming up! And that is all that there seems to be: comic book movies!
Just like Thomas said, it's mainly for money -- I think it's all for money - Hollywood is becoming corrupt lately! It only cares about the gross the movie makes, and sometimes they don't even seem to even try to make a good movie -- they just put in a nonsense action sequence, or a love scene, and they think the public will eat it up They just use the same formula over and over, because it works - They don't try anything new. I don't deny that there are some real great Hollywood movies out - because there are great movies being made by Hollywood, but not too many.
Independent Films are "Anti-Hollywood" which is great, because you actually get movies that the filmmakers love and will try everything in their creative imagination to make their movie maigcal and tell the audience clearly what it wants to say. They don't care about the gross the movie makes (because most of the time it doesn't see theatres outside of the film festivals), they care about the message the movie is trying to convey, and not trying to squeeze in something they think the public will fawn over.
The only complaint I have about independent films are that the have no volume control! The sound rises and decreases all by itself and it drives me nuts!

Not all of them are made primarily for money though.

The Matrix sequels from this year where not made just for money, but because the Wachowski brothers wanted to finish telling their story, and after the success of the first movie, Warner trusted them enough to make money on the sequels.

The Star Wars sequels where also made to complete Geroge Lucas's story, and since he made so much money from the first one, he could go on and make the rest himself, how he wanted.

But those ones were made to have the sequels - I agree with what you said " These movies all have something in common though, they all flow very well from 1 to the next, and are intended to be a single long movie, but it is to costly and time consuming to release a 6 - 12 hour movie, lol. " I agree with that, but some movies are coming out that i just can't understand why -- This whole wave of comic book to movie thing is just going too far, in my opinion. After the huge release of Spiderman, the companies are just remaking all comic books they can get their hands on...I just want to see something original come out. Or at least the Evil Dead 4 Sam Raimi promised he'd make if Spiderman was a huge success :P

To get back to the original post of this thread (Pirates of the Carribean), I am probably going to go see it next saturday. I saw the trailer a couple of weeks ago, and it doesn't look too bad.

Tomb Raider 2 is 2 weeks after that too.

I just went to see it, and it was probably better than I was expecting. I'm not usually into Pirate movies, but it was good to go for the action sequences alone. I love sword-fighting scenes in movies (especially if they are Laser Swords, lol).

This is worth seeing if you are big on action movies, but the story is a bit thin.

...and does anyone else think that Keira Knightley is a secret clone of Natalie Portman? I know she played Natalie's double in Star Wars, but wow...she really does look just like her.

You have to watch Pirates of the Carribean to understand how much the 2 look like each other.
