The first half is awesome, the second half rather so-so.

Pros
+ the title sequence and the first 2018 scenes are stunning, great camera, sound and CG work
+ plenty new ideas as it is the first post-apocalyptic film of the franchise
+ outdoor action sequences are huge
+ great cast, Bale almost looks like the guy in that short scene in T2
+ many details and references to the old films (Arnie, John's scar, Sarah's photo etc.)
+ basically a good plot

Cons
- no Terminator film should ever be rated PG13, never
- Sam Worthington is the main character when he should not be
- how did they create a hybrid after 2003 when 2018's T-600 looks like Jason of Friday 13th?
- 2nd half jumps from idea to idea creating a lot of plot holes, the initially good story appears flat and not thought through
- CG work is getting worse
- uninspired and lame showdown with lots of problems:
- why don't they kill Kyle Reese?
- T-800 prototype in 2018? no "evolution" until 2029 when the first is sent back?
- Skynet isn't defending itself at all? Connor basically fights that one T-800?
- the hostiles just get picked up outside Skynet like kids after school?

T3 is not a classic as T1 and T2, but it was much more thought through than this new installment.
