Didn't know Arnie was gonna be in this either and from what I've seen it looks decent. Really lookin forward to it and hope it's better than T3.

I read before that Night At The Museum 2 had taken more at the Box Office over the weekend than Terminator Salvation!

That counts for nothing - except to say that, in my opinion, a lot of people have poor taste in comedy because Ben Stiller isn't very funny.

I wasn't suggesting it proved anything. I was thinking more along the lines of the respective budgets of either film, and how Terminator would need a healthy Box Office return to balance the books, so to speak.

And i quite like Ben Stiller. I think There's Something About Mary is really funny.

Couldn't stand Night at The Museum 2 as they just re-hashed all of the old jokes from the first one and the film merely parodied itself.

As for Terminator Salvation, I loved it and it was leaps and bounds ahead of T3.

I think they introduced Arnie far too soon in the trilogy of films I hear they've got planned as there's another 11 years before Reese is sent back to protect Sarah and it's hard to believe that Skynet, such an advanced entity that it is, would be sending back the same 'Arnie' model over a decade after he's 'technically' first seen.

The rest of the film was superb though and I enjoyed it a lot. The first time in a long time that I have actually felt I got my money's worth going to the cinema.

However, I think that far too many franchises are abandoning their roots and making a 'family viewing' comeback when in reality, the Terminator films have always been foreboding and dark. Why did they have to create a 12A film and not up the scare/blood factor a little and make a 15? I'm not one of these people who likes gratuitous gore at all - in fact I loathe it - but given the films' legacy, you'd expect it to be a little more violent than it was.

Great effects and a good story/script though and I can't wait for the next instalment!

Yeah it was a good review. And even without seeing the film, i too wondered at the 12A rating. I'll go see it this weekend.

I haven't seen it yet either, but the reason for the 12A rating is so they can pack more people into the cinema. The whole reason that the 12A rating was created, rather than the regular 12 rating we used to have, was for Spiderman 2. A lot of film-makers now cut their work down to get that rating.

Although, to be fair, partly it is that we've become so desensitised to violence these days. I'd bet that some films from years back, if they were to be re-classified now, would receive lower ratings. One of the old Dracula films with Christopher Lee was re-released at the cinema a few years back with a 12 rating, when the original was rated R over here.

I think the original Terminator film may actually be a 15 these days. Violence-wise, we've all seen stuff as bad in a 12A but the language in the original film is what would probably merit the 15 rating. I find it bemusing how editors of films in general see fit to leave in a few quite graphic scenes and omit the odd bit of swearing here and there in order to get a 12A certificate. Swearing is all part and parcel of what makes a film's script believable IMO and emphasises anger or desperation when used well.

It works both ways though cos if you look at some of the films that are being released as 18-rated at the moment, some of them are just plain disgusting and would never have seen the light of day 20 years ago. Look at 'Hostel' or the new one that's just coming out called 'Last House on the Left'. I admit that I have not seen either (nor do I want to) and I know everyone has different tastes but I just cannot understand who would enjoy going to watch 90mins of people cutting other people up as the central theme to a movie.

Terminator Salvation gets the balance of violence weighted a little towards the safe side but everything else about the film does enough to rescue it.
