Default Lost Highway is platinum (so there!)

I've lurked, but today is post numero uno.

Lost Highway, according to Nielson SoundScan, has passed the 1,000,000 mark in U.S. sales and is closing in on 3,000,000 worldwide.

It's judgment day in Santa Fe . . .

Not too complicated though - I guess his question makes sence if you don't read everything.

has it been much of a sucess really? At this point HAND was at 3.5 m worldwide after 6 months, perhaps they were only expecting it to do a million or so.

3 miion wworldwide is pretty bad compared to what they used to do.
But then again, this album was aimed at the US market, so I guess that was to be expected.

yet is sold twice as much outside the US, wich seems quite a lot for a album aimed at the US market. Maybe its time to waken up, tho they had lots different reasons to wake up

The number of albums sold is not a judgement on whether an album is good or not.
Celine Dione is the best selling female artist but her music is beyond diabolical!

Anyway - selling 3 million copies of an album for Bon Jovi makes it their worst selling album since 7800!!!! (Maybe apart from TLFR).

It's still got time to sell a few more.

How can you compare sales of an album today to an album in 1985, or even last year? Every year, album sales go lower and lower and lower. The biggest selling album this year was Daughtry which sold 2.7 million copies. In the 80's or 90's, that wouldn't have made the top 10 of the year. Nowadays, for an artist to sell a million copies is an accomplishment.

I do not think that Soundscan has anything to do with counting WORLDWIDE sales - if I am wrong please tell me. So the question was legitimate where those worldwide sales come from as they do not come from Soundscan I think!?!?!?

PS.: Being a smartass must be fun huh?
