Aftermath is as bad as an album can be. No inspiration despite 14 years of silence (14 friggin' years to deliver THAT, are you kidding me?) and even worse production than What about Now's. So yes there's more guitar on Richie's album but it's poor quality work. I mean the outro solo of 7 years gone is sooooo ****ed up!
To me Richie perfectly fits in current Bon Jovi. Jon isn't half the singer he used to be and Richie isn't half the guitar player he used to be as well, so it's a draw.
Anyway, What about Now wins hands down against Aftermath in my opinion.

Aftermath, no doubt about it.

As much as I love I'm With You, Water and What's Left Of Me, I love 7 Years Gone, Learning How To Fly and Get So High more. I haven't listened to WAN that much yet, but I don't see myself changing my mind that much. The only song I really couldn't care less about on the Aftermath is World. I wasn't crazy about it (the album) at first, but the songs grew on me after seeing the live show and listening to the lyrics more carefully. The production could be better, the sound of some songs is just too 'dirty', but I prefer it to WAN production. By far.

Listening to WAN, I'm With You is the only one that really captured me so far. I hate Because We Can, I've been skipping it and I'll probably keep on doing that. Water and What's Left of Me are great songs, but I prefer the live versions. Army Of One was a pleasant surprise, yes, the lyrics are... not their best, to say the least, but musically I like it quite a lot. I have to listen to the other songs some more, I know they'll grow on me; but generally speaking, I prefer the sound of the Aftermath to the sound of WAN. It's more 'me'.

And those cats in the trees... That lyric's a joke.

What About Now. The only song I listen to on Aftermath is Seven Years Gone.

Aftermath has more music in it, and even though it's not that great, I enjoy it much more.

WAN has some catchy tunes, and a terribly boring 2nd half.

You obviously didnt see Richie live hes still got it many songs had extended jams in I think Jon restricts him and the band from turning too far away from the original known music. Look at Keep The Faith. How many years were tgey playing the same solo? And now they have changed it up.

In response to the OP I think aftermath wins. I like both albums but Richies one hits Mr more. WAN seems to me like a Jon solo record. And I still dont know why people say Aftemath isn't a rock album because it is

I like WAN better. What's Left of Me beats everything from Aftermath for me, and Sugar Daddy is worst than any song from WAN.
