I can never really make my mind up about HBE. Sometimes I think I love it, other times I think it's just ok. I think Jons voice is really niiice in it (like all of These Days) But I'm just never really sure abotu the song, it's weird I can never make my mind up about it.

Cryin' is a classic.

Hearts Breaking Even is the same kind of bluesy ballad that Cryin' or Crazy is. If Thats What It Takes and This Ain't A Love Song too. I've always thought they're all very Aero-style . Wasn't it the period when Jon and Richie were helping Steve and Joe doing the new album? Cause I don't believe it's just the coincidence. Or BJ were influenced by Aero after making something together or they wanted to copy Aero's style. Even Jon's screams at the end are very similar to Steven's work. Not to mention the guitar work on the songs from These Days, that I mentioned. Before that album guitar line in the chorus were just chords. Now it's all big, ambitious, fat guitar work. And nbody gives a shit... Noone of critics think about great Richie's form. He deserves more credit for this one, because it's his best.

I personally prefer Hearts Breaking Even 'cause of the bass line and Jon's and Richie's voices while singin together.

i dont know why ...i dont think they sound similar, the reason maybe that some of the chords are the same, but theres hundreds of songs with the same chord progression, i love both songs, and forme theyre very different...and i never think about them being similar, until i saw a review by a guy on the internet.....

i agree with ZB , i play guitar too, and for me , Richie`s work on "These days" album is maybe the best, he does some crazy bends and impossible bluesy solos, that make you think his guitar is goin to explode of pleasure =)
