You aren't putting it together very well. Name one Bon Jovi album that was all "rock" in the definition you have of it being. Not going to happen..every album has had variety.
So lets say they left Standing and Alive off because 'they were rock songs".....what's Hook Me Up? Undivided? Standing with it's "ok let's all sing-along now" chorus, particularly accented towards the end where just the drums are playing so we can all join in on the chorus in happy unision comes off as far more poppy than either of those.
You are probably into the wrong band.

I'm definately not into the wrong band! I think there are some well written songs on Bounce like The Distance, Undivided, Right Side Of Wrong, Misunderstood, etc but they have been way over produced. I know Bon Jovi were trying to apeal to a wider audience, but I think they've given there music a softer edge. I think this is a mistake and I liked the older Bon Jovi sound. To a certain degree yes they are a pop band, and I consider the first three albums to be more pop than rock, but I also feel that they sounded much more mature on New Jersey, Keep The Faith and These Days. The sound from those 3 albums was much more in the rock genre than pop. Obviously every album does have to have a mixture of ballads, rock songs and mid tempo songs but I think Keep The Faith especially can certianly be classed among the great rock albums ever.
