Default Does Undiscovered Soul bridge the gap?

I don't know how to really phrase this correctly but I've been thinking Undiscovered Soul kind of bridges the gap between These Days and Crush much more than Destination Anywhere does. The heavy use of Richie's telecastor and the more organic feel give me this impression.

These Days to Crush makes a lot more sense with Richie's album in between. What are your thoughts on this?

Definitely not!

The reason being - DA sucked whereas US was a masterpiece! Crush sucked, ergo DA fits the profile better. Case closed.

Haha I can't find any logic whatsoever in there so I'm just going to nod and move on.

I see where you're coming from. Undiscovered Soul has much more of a pop hit "effort" to it than Destination Anywhere or These Days so I do see how you can go from These Days to US to Crush. Made In America, All That Really Matters, Hard Times Come Easy, and In it For Love for instance are much more radio friendly than songs like Janie, Staring At Your Window, and Naked.
But you also have to throw all the songs that we've heard that Jon wrote for Sex Sells into the bridge mix (pardon my pun). I think they were looking for radio friendly and hits with Crush and Richie does tend to be the one who goes for radio friendly. Jon has said that Richie keeps him from going too far left. {And I do not think that's a bad thing. No hits = no sales = no reason to tour = Becky's home bored. }

Oh yes yes. My teeth hurt just THINKING About how poppy Sex Sells was. I guess if you combined These Days, Sex Sells and Undiscovered soul, you'd get Crush? Just thinking Crush comes after TD boggles my mind it could not be any different but if you have in between, it does make way more sense.

I still maintain that Crush is a mixture of DA and US ... I see them both as dual stepping stones between TD and Crush

As an aside point, I'm working on a little theory about Crush

Can anyone give me a list of the known demos for Sex Sells, and the ones for Crush? Would be much appreciated

I really hate saying it because I've sounded so Anti-Richie lately but I'm on the same page as you. Different book, but same page.

Of course. Keep in mind a lot of them intersect. From Nige's site:

Sex Sells Demo's – Jon Bon Jovi (199

Crazy Love
Even Bad Times Are Good Times
Even In Your Imagination
Gimme Some
Good Ain't Good Enough
Hush
I Can Save The World
I Got The Girl
Kidnap An Angel
Last Chance Train
Life's Too Short For Days Like These
Older
Rich Man Living In A Poor Man's House
Real Life
Shadow Dancing
Someday You'll Ride Wild Horses
Stay
These Arms Are Open All Night
You Can't Lose At Love

Crush Outtakes (2000)

Ain't No Cure For Love
Do It To Ya
Forbidden Love
Garageland
Hush
I Don't Wanna Live Forever
Life's Too Short For Days Like These
Maybe Someday
Neurotica
Ordinary People
Rich Man Living In A Poor Man's House
Satellite
Sex Sells
Stay
Temptation
The One That Got Away
Too Much Of A Good Thing
Welcome To The Good Times
You Can Sleep While I Dream
You Can't Lose At Love

-----------

Now here's where it gets confusing. You can't lose at love, Hush, and Stay. The versions released as BAND demos, where simply the same ones from the Sex sells listening party, something that reall bothers me. Jon solo should be Jon solo, band work should be band work. Don't mix them. So I don't count those as Crush songs at all, they weren't written for and intended for that project, in my head. Rich Man living in a poor mans house, I don't know if a version was ever recorded as a band, That is Bobby on the box set, I'm sure of it. Do it to ya I recall it saying it was a KTF demo.
