I guess you could always consider it this way.

Jon solo compositions and Jon w/ Billy Falcon compositions are likely "Sex Sells." Richie got involved in the writing process for Crush later, so the ones Richie cowrote are definitely Crush.

That's how I started reaching my theory. The organic tele-americana rock of US and the more electronic based stuff of DA = Crush but then I over-thought it.

Hee hee. I had something else to say after reading your list, so I made a new post anyway.

Yah. To me, anytime Richie co-writes a song, it's for the band. It helps distinguish songs on the box set from band songs and Jon's solo songs. It's easy to tell what songs from the Crush b-sides he does and doesn't play on as well. It was a gusty move for Jon to put the Sex Sells songs as b-sides instead of the ones that eventually ended up on the box set I think.

Yeah and if you combine TD, Sex Sells, UD, Crush + more influence Richie = Bounce....+ even more influence Richie = TLFR (Richie all alone = OWN Live)

Now here's where it gets confusing. You can't lose at love, Hush, and Stay. The versions released as BAND demos, where simply the same ones from the Sex sells listening party, something that reall bothers me. Jon solo should be Jon solo, band work should be band work. Don't mix them. So I don't count those as Crush songs at all, they weren't written for and intended for that project, in my head. Rich Man living in a poor mans house, I don't know if a version was ever recorded as a band, That is Bobby on the box set, I'm sure of it. Do it to ya I recall it saying it was a KTF demo.
Thanks Matt. I'll let you know the result of my theory once I've figured it out completely

But you also have to throw all the songs that we've heard that Jon wrote for Sex Sells into the bridge mix (pardon my pun). I think they were looking for radio friendly and hits with Crush and Richie does tend to be the one who goes for radio friendly. Jon has said that Richie keeps him from going too far left. {And I do not think that's a bad thing. No hits = no sales = no reason to tour = Becky's home bored. }
I tend to gravitate toward Jon's stuff more because it is more left than Richie's.

I don't particularly like either one of their solo efforts but if I had tro choose I like Richie's CD's better. Truly, there has to be a reason their biggest hits (with the exception of Blaze, Always, and Bed of Roses) have been when Jon and Richie write together. Richie being more radio minded isn't a bad thing either. Don't forget Jon didn't even think Livin' On a Prayer should have been on Slippery. Richie had to convince him.

And I agree with Becky, if there's no tour to look forward to, I'm sitting home pissed or going to see someone else to try to satisfy my concert itch.

I agree 100% with that. I have also thought that US bridges TD to Crush to a certain degree.
