I thought I once read that Jon wrote this song about "Bon Jovi" and other members of the band.
It was like he wanted to be somewhat of an individual (hence solo album), but he knew that he'd always belong to them and didn't want them to forget it.
The song gets even more interesting when thinking about it that way.
