heres the thing in relation to record sales though.

u2 have had a good few more years to sell records than jovi as they have been active for a good few more years.

bon jovi have probably sold about 128 million or something (incude lost highway sales, thats just a guess by the way but surely its at least 5 mill!)

plus jon will defintely have sold about 15 mill if you include his solo projects.

so say roughly 150 mill sold worldwide which is actually a margin more than U2 is it not?

The 120 million includes Jon's solo stuff.

Aloha !

U2 do have 3 best off records right now where as Bon Jovi has one, really. If Bon Jovi would've released more stuff (as in live albums etcetera) in the nineties they wouldn't be as far behind as they are now.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I'm going to see U2 this year and that'll be the telling point - who does it for me the most live. If I can come away with that same buzz I get when I see Jovi - great.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it happens, but I'm not sure it will.

Yeah, U2 seem to be the critics darlings. They've not had to do anything to earn it, while Jovi have to scrap for every last piece. But you know what - I think that in itself makes Jovi the bigger band, because they've got as much a huge a fanbase but without all the promotion U2 get.

Also, I think a lot more "casual" listeners would go and see U2 - like me - but that doesn't necessarily mean they're fans.

Do you realise that last, LH tour was the biggest tour in the world? What do you think will happen if BJs new stuf is really good and if they release Best Off? They will beat the shit out of U2 and will do that without critics approval.

it is stated everywhere that that 120 mill is only "BON JOVI the band" stuff! plus it must be good bit more than that. anyone know how much lost highway has sold to date? must be at least 5 mill.....

The LH tour was "only" the biggest tour in the world because the Stones, U2 and Bruce Springsteen weren't touring. Bon Jovi's new stuff hasn't been really good for 10 years now, while a mediocre U2 album still sells millions.

Is it because U2 fans are easily brain washed? look at ZOOROPA, didnt they write this album in a few days as a laugh and it sold by its millions. The songs Lemon and Zooropa are just trash.

U2 is bigger and it's overrated
Bon Jovi is better and it's underrated
