I think it is just hard to get past the big hair and bad clothes. But I do love the video along with the song.

You are correct. The In & Out video was filmed on the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights, NJ. Everytime I'm there, the video comes to mind. And the video is one of my faves for that reason! Gotta love the 80's cheese!

Lets see what makes me laugh about the video for "silent night". The "actors" are really, really bad. If you watch their facial expressions, (the bit where their on the rollercoaster esp!) it looks like their gonna crack up laughing themselves. The hair and make up which you said, (i can forgive them that though seen as it was 1985) and yes the whole story line is very chessy to me and you can tell its been done on a very low budget. And yes I do know how tragic relationships can be thanku but it doesnt take a video like that for me to see it, I can work that out for myself by listening to the lyrics of the song. Also if these videos were so great how come they didnt do any like that for the slippery and NJ albums??!

Like I said though all the early videos are still fun to watch, its shows how much the bands progressed, whod have thought watching terrible videos like that theyd still be around 20 years later and sold nearly 100 mil albums.

Finally, Steve Guttenburg was the one in the silent night video with the moustach, in leather, with a headband on.

Are you sure its Steve Guttenburg. I just dont think it looks like him, I know that he did dress up that way in one of the Police Academy films when he went undercover.

I'm pretty sure at no point do the actors ride a roller coaster in Silent Night....there is a shot of them driving on a bridge though and they are acting like people driving on a bridge. I just don't see any really bad acting going on.

If memory serves me right....Silent Night was never released to video outlets. It was a home video release only, just as Wild in the Streets and Blood on Blood were. It did get aired later on MTV....much later....on Bon Jovi Sunday during the New Jersey period. So it couldn't do anything to bring attention to the band regardless of the quality of the video. But that video is actually pretty high quality considering it was 1985. Watch any other video from even Artists that were huge at the time and see how much better their videos were. Both In and Out of Love and Silent Night were a big leap ahead for Bon Jovi compared to the god awful video for Runaway...you wanna talk cheese...drag that one out.

I'm sure it does make a difference though for those of us who watched these videos when they were brand new. Saw the world premieres and witnessed them going up and down the video charts as opposed to fans who are basically doing the equivalent of looking at baby pictures of someone they just met relatively recently.

On topic, Only Lonely was a freakin mess! Just about everyone who has seen it says the same thing..they think it's from some movie they never heard of and so did I. In a way it makes it engaging..but it's overkill really. Who'd have thought they'd create another video that has nothing to do with the song with Always, 10 years later.

That is not Steve Guttenberg in the video, sorry.

I guess I just prefer Bon Jovi Videos what concentrate on the band instead of actors.

In all the times I've watched the video, not once has it ever occured to me that the guy swinging the axe in the beginning is Steve Guttenberg. This is because it looks nothing like him. That's just my personal observation.

Then there are the facts.....Steve Guttenberg was a star at that point. One of the more in demand ones at the time. A star of his stature simply does not take an almost invisible role in a music video, especially by a band that has yet to make a name for itself in the States. There is no connection between any of the band members and Steve Guttenberg that would suggest he would agree to do it as a favor or whatever.

Then there is the fact that the Bon Jovi camp routinely credits actors who have appeared in their videos who are recognizable names and even less so. Not once has Steven Guttenberg been mentioned.

Jack Noseworthy, an actor no one gives a crap about except for teen girls who think he's supposed to be a young Jon Bon Jovi, gets plenty of credit by the Bon Jovi camp for his role in Always. Why would he get the credit he does while Steve Guttenberg, a lead billing actor, is never mentioned?

These are rhetorical questions.....I do not need answers. I'm simply pointing out the absurdity of the notion that Steve Guttenberg, a big name comedy actor in 1985, appeared in a decidely serious nondescript role as a mob man/gangbanger/whatever in a music video by a relatively unknown band and has never been credited or mentioned as appearing in the role.
