I initially liked "Real Life" (not only because it was the bands' first single release since "Hey God" - it just sounded cool), then hated it, then began to like it again. I believe it was produced by Bruce Fairbairn, right? Anyway, in my opinion I rate it much better than "Thank you for loving me" and "All about loving you" - those songs are ok, but I just like "Real Life" better - it's got more of a rock feel to it than those 2.

Also, someone once mentioned that this is the only link between "These Days" and "Crush" album sounds. Perhaps it would have been indicative of what Bon Jovi may have sounded like had they released an album around 1998/1999.

That would have been a great album.

If you watch the video of Real Life you actually see a sign which says "Bon Jovi - Sex Sells" which was the name of "crush" before it became Crush. I think that Real Life came out of a Crush demo session. One of the songs on Crush was doing the rounds on Jon's solo tour in the late 90's, Just Older.

I think Real Life has a bit of the These Days sound in and a teaser to the sound of Crush, had the whole album been that way it would have been better, although Crush is still a really good album.

Jon looks old in the video though, i think its with the short blonde hair that does it, if he had kept it dark he would have looked younger. But then i ain't getting into a debate about jon's hair, thats for backstage to coo over!!!!

Originally Sex Sells was supposed to be Jon's solo album, he had all the songs recorded, Older and Real Life were among them. They even had a listening party where people were able to listen to all the songs.

When the band got back together Jon decided to scrap the solo album and do a band album. He used Real Life for a movie soundtrack and Older for the album renamed Just Older. Also Stay was used as a single B-side.

Not to mention "I got the girl".

Actually, a few demos from the "Sex sells" sessions ended up as Crush B-Sides, didn't it? Such as Hush, and..damn, my mind is not working this morning.

Wow Ice. That's really amazing. How did you know this? Don't get me wrong - I believe you, just that I also like to get all sorts of info on the band. Thanks!

Some are available as live versions from Jon's solo tour and there's a "Sex Sells Listening Party" -bootleg which has all the songs, but the quality is bad. They played them to the fanclub members.
