Was this exclusively written for Crossroad or was it ment for These Days (or were those recording sessions the same)?

I always thought it could easily been a These Days song especcialy listening to Prostitute, When she Comes & All I want is everything....
Also IMO it would've done the song more justice when it was put on TD

Anyway always wondered, somehow never found out...

I think I read before that it was written for the new album (TD) and Jon and Richie loved it but didn't think it fit with the tone of the new album and decided then to put it on Cross Road.

Personally I think it was better being left off These Days because it became a single and a set-list staple, something that may not have happened had it made These Days.

i would say if they had put it on these days it would have ened up being the box set version as that song would fit better with the tone of thewse days. good but not as good

It was written for These Days, but they liked it well enough to put it on greatest hits package, which I'm very glad of. Otherwise we might never have heard it live again! The recording sessions were the same. The record company wanted the GH package and Jon had already decided that Always wasn't going to fit with the rest of the tone for next full CD. Someone--can't remember who it was off the top of my head--encouraged him to release it and let it kind of stand on it's own Crossroad.

I'm not sure about that. What TD imo missed was a song wich could be build around (as KTF had Dry County), maybe as my guitar but not the right song imo, should be more epic. TD could do but on the wrong slot, middle, Saturday night could've fit perfectly after As my guitar... could've been a bigger single then any after Love song (or could've been the first)... Also believe that straight from the TD tour, that could've been (and was) the best 'new' song live....
I think TD could've been made complete with Saturday Night, always thought that
I can totally see why Always was left out, not a favourite of mine anyway
