I only get excited with covers when Bon Jovi either do as good as the orginal or better the original. I think Bon Jovi's version of Jailbreak orginally by Thin Lizzy is great. It's a well written song, but Thin Lizzy didn't perform it to the best of their ability I don't think. Also Bon Jovi's version of Bridge Over Troubled Water is very good. Simon and Garfunkl recorded this well, but I don't like how it slowly increases in volume. I prefer the more consistent level of volume which Bon Jovi provide.

I also like covers when they are by bands that I haven't yet discovered because it makes listen to more music. Like when Bon Jovi played Lola for the first time at Manchester. I then found that I got into the Kinks because of it. I'd heard of the Kinks before but I doubt I woulda got into their music had it not been for Bon Jovi.

LOL Oh, I'll admit that. But he gave a similar performance on Saturday, so I think my opinion of Saturday's show was influenced by how bad I felt. I found myself checking my watch and estimating how much longer the show would last. I hate my immune system.

It's a great song. I've never heard the original version so I can't judge how they cover it but I can say I've loved this one from the first listen.
It really touched me because the story in the lyrics reminds me something similar happened in my life about three years ago that hurted me a lot...and it still does when I think about it.

Yeah great song. I really like the part what goes "and the operator......" with the drums building up. It rocks!

I think it was boring. The song itself is just a repeated pattern and it's been done to death anyway. They shouldn't do covers if they don't add anything to it. They've done some great ones in the past, but nowadays the whole stageshow of BJ is getting so predictable and certain that it's getting boring.

And yes, TLFR and also the DVD pretty much suck still.

I've heard that argument before and all I have to say is....

I think that would be part of the fun of being in a band. Getting to play songs you grew up listening to. At least it would be for me. I like the covers where the artists adds something new but, mostly, sometimes it's just fun to rock out to some old rock song without changing a damn thing.

Ive been listening to dr hook for years, and bonjovi covering this song has probably made alot more fans for the hook!
I personally would love to see bonjovi release an album of cover songs.

Actually I loved "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr.Hook,sooo when I found out Bon Jovi was gonna cover it,I was pretty excited! And Bon Jovi does the song very well,dare I say,better than the original.
