Default Who has sold more?? deff leppard or bonjovi????

Well what about Deff Leppard?? They are a band that sound very much like bonjovi. I used to hate it when i read in articles that bonjovi were a mix of deff leppard and bruce springsteen????? anyway how would bonjovi's sales match up to deffleppards with their hysteria and vault and others...

I like deff leppard these days. I have and will always hate U2. their songs put me to sleep.

I hope you people respond to this as i am more eager with deffleppard vs. bonjovi than u2 vs. bonjovi...

I believe Def Leppard have sold something like 47 million albums so BJ have sold twice as many really... For some reason Def Leppard havn't sold hardly any albums since Vault and Adrenalize. I don't think Slang, Euphoria or X sold much at all while BJ got loads of new fans when Crush came out. Then these people would have purchased their back catalogue and so forth really boosting their sales.
This hasn't really happened with Def Leppard and they are mostly remembered for the Hysteria and Pyromania albums. They havn't had a hit album in years and don't really get that much exposure anymore in the music world. They are more of a cult band now while BJ is still getting a fair bit of attention.
IMO DL should have changed their style sooner and they may have left it too late. When Adrenalize came out in 92, they still very much sounded like an 80's band while BJ changed their style with KTF. Therefore when Slang came out they were still remembered as a 80's band and due to trends in the music scene at that time (96), were forgotten. BJ on the other hand, had already set themselves up for the new decade and therefore managed to stay more mainstream.

Sure it doesn't matter how much a band sells as it is more about what they do musically than salewise. I love both bands and will continue to buy albums from both of them....

Why does it matter indeed! A Def Leppard vs Bon Jovi debate is so 1987. Who gives a shit how many albums a band sell anyway... its no reflection on the music itself.

Def Leppard are one of the most underrated bands sadly. Obviously they're not as successful as BJ are today, but Jovi and Leppard are the only bands who didn't die after the 80's. But if Def Leppard did what BJ did and reinvent themselves for the '90s then they may be slightly more successful now.

Leppard really are a great band and a close second favourite of mine to Bon Jovi.

P.S. Slang rocks!

Its great that Def Leppard are still out there releasing records and touring, albeit in a smaller scale than they used to. I still don't think their most recent albums have been as good as Bon Jovi's.... It must be a bit annoying for Joe and the boys to go from the stadiums back to the theatres though. I don't think Jovi would be happy if they had to make that transition.
