so start learning that "to be", that in english has two meanings, has two different verbs in english:

Ser - to be ("I am Neil")
Estar - to be ("I am here")

I spent 5 years studying German (albeit with a crap teacher for 4 of those years) and I couldn't even put together basic sentences.

I suppose maybe I have more ambition and a better teacher this time

but I will probably struggle to learn a lot lol

...although I did remember that for the female form you end words with an a and for the male it is o (I changed it at the end of pervertida from the alta vista translation :P)

And I know that hello is olá, pretty woman is mulher bonita, good night is boa noite and good dreams is bons sonhos

To be (phisical)

I am - Eu estou
You are - Tu estás
He/She/It is - Ele/Ela/Aquilo está
We are - Nos estamos
You are - Vós estais
They are - Eles estão
