Jelly is the sweet bouncy stuff that kids have, what you refer to as jelly is actually jam. We do play football, it's mostly played with out feet, whereas what you play is gay rugby.

Jello is gelatin.
Jelly is made from fruit juice and sugar with something like Sure-Gel to give it that substance.
Jam is made from fruit juice and sugar but also has bits of the fruit in it.

I make jam and jelly every year and neither are like gelatin/Jello.
