I never tape anything, I have a tv card in my pc so can record straight to hard disk (and I always make sure I have enough space for what I'm recording before I start it)

Have you not considered a DVD recorder instead since they are getting really cheap now?

I bought my first one in November 2002 (Nokia 3310) and then my current one September 2004 (Motorola V500). I only changed it after 2 years because it was too big and didn't have a colour screen or polyphonic tones or anything like that, but my current one should last me a few years I think.

In regards to the price of DVD recorders I think you can get them for around £100, which is what normal DVD players and even video recorders cost about 5 years ago, and you are getting a combined product now with one because they record and play of course.

What was your last big purchase?
