Default Kill Bill Vol. 1 DVD question

Is it really true that the international uncut DVD has a black and white part during the Crazy 88 battle?
If so, was it already like that in the cinema? I can't remember.
It really pisses me off when films are released in different versions even if they have the same or comparable ratings!
What I am talking about? The Japan release has the scene in colour and it is even longer, apart from some more changes!

Yes, it is true. We have it in b/w and japanese people have it in colour. That´s the way it was in the cinema already. And yes, that sucks. From IMDb: It was, however, originally, to be shown in color (and is in the Japanese cut of the film) but the MPAA demanded measures be taken to tone the scene down. Tarantino merely used the old trick for its intended purpose, rather than merely as an homage.

It's the damn BBFC and other ratings boards. They think that they somehow have the right to tell grown people what they are allowed to watch.

I am waiting for the re-release with the full film cut back together as one for the cinema and then hopefully a single DVD release which I would buy region 3 to get it uncut.

I really hate it when films get cut although they got the highest rating, like with The Punisher recently. What's the purpose of the highest rating then?
They don't give a **** about the director's vision.
I think it's good to rate films but when one gets the highest rating it should be left as it was intended to be.

In this case, it makes me angry that you can't even say that the Japanese version is how it was intended to be. Apart from it being longer, it has some sequences that are edited different, the Klingon proverb is not there etc.

Well like I said the film is being rect as one for a theatrical re-release, so hopefully a new DVD boxset will be made available shortly afterwards.
